LIN28B Promotes Cancer Cell Dissemination and Angiogenesis
Children diagnosed with high‐risk neuroblastoma have a 5‐year event‐free survival rate of less than 50% and poor outcomes after recurrence. Deregulation of the LIN28B oncogene can be addressed in these patients. Upregulation of LIN28B is shown to support the metastatic cascade.

Cardiometabolic risk factor burden associates with an immature platelet profile
Cardiometabolic risk factors, obesity, diabetes and hyperlipidemia contribute to cardiovascular disease (CVD). While platelets are involved in CVD pathogenesis, the relationship between risk factor burden on platelet indices and the platelet ...

A Wigner-Seitz model of charged lamellar colloidal dispersions
A concentrated suspension of lamellar colloidal particles (e. g. clay) is modelled by considering a single, uniformly charged, finite platelet confined with co- and counterions to a Wigner-Seitz (WS) cell.

Platelets promote macrophage polarization toward pro-inflammatory phenotype and increase survival of septic mice [PDF]
We investigated the contribution of human platelets to macrophage effector properties in the presence of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), as well as the beneficial effects and time frame for platelet transfusion in septic animals.

Association of thromboxane generation with the bleeding events in aspirin users
Coronary artery disease is among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, posing a significant threat to human health and life. Aspirin is widely used in the treatment of coronary artery disease, however, long-term use may increase the ...

On phase behavior and dynamical signatures of charged colloidal platelets
We investigate the competition between anisotropic excluded-volume and repulsive electrostatic interactions in suspensions of thin charged colloidal discs, by means of Monte-Carlo simulations and dynamical characterization of the structures found.

A laboratory‐scale procedure is developed to evaluate the efficiency of melt‐cleaning and drossing fluxes during aluminium alloy recycling, studying their effects on melt cleanliness and tensile properties of secondary foundry alloys. This work provides a practical tool for foundries and aluminium refiners to assess the efficiency of salt fluxes in ...
