Thermodynamic investigations on the growth of CuAlO$_2$ delafossite crystals

open access: yes, 2017
Simultaneous differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermogravimetric (TG) measurements with copper oxide/aluminum oxide mixtures were performed in atmospheres with varying oxygen partial pressures and with crucibles made of different materials.

Clinical Significance of Therapeutic Drug Level Monitoring for Mycophenolate in Patients With Extrarenal Systemic Lupus Erythematosus—A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Clinical response to mycophenolic acid (MPA) is highly heterogeneous; thus, therapeutic drug level monitoring (TDM) may help improve treatment efficacy. This systematic review and meta‐analysis examined therapeutic ranges for MPA levels associated with better outcomes and safety in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE ...

Preparation and evaluation of advanced catalysts for phosphoric acid fuel cells [PDF]

open access: yes
The platinum electrocatalysts were characterized for their crystallite sizes and the degree of dispersion on the carbon supports. One application of these electrocatalysts was for anodic oxidation of hydrogen in hot phosphoric acid fuel cells, coupled ...

Perceived Impacts and Predictors of Cannabis Products used by Rheumatology Patients in Alberta: A Multivariable Analysis of Cross‐sectional Survey Data

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective This study aimed to characterize cannabis product choices (cannabinoid content and formulation) among rheumatology patients, and their associations with patient factors, patient reported perceived side effects and positive impacts. Methods An online survey (delivered from March to November 2022) was distributed by Alberta Health Services to ...

Sub-Nanometer Catalyst Clusters for Propane Dehydrogenation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Propane dehydrogenation (PDH) is used to produce propene, which is the primary building block for many commercial plastics. The catalyst most commonly used for this reaction is platinum.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Anchoring Pt Single Atoms on Te Nanowires for Plasmon‐Enhanced Dehydrogenation of Formic Acid at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2019
Formic acid (HCOOH), as a promising hydrogen carrier, is renewable, safe, and nontoxic. However, the catalytic dehydrogenation of HCOOH is typically conducted at elevated temperature.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting
