Benchmarking algorithms from the platypus framework on the biobjective bbob-biobj testbed

open access: yesAnnual Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computation, 2019
One of the main goals of the COCO platform is to produce, collect, and make available benchmarking performance data sets of optimization algorithms and, more concretely, algorithm implementations.

Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography‐guided Biliary Drainage with Duckbill‐type Anti‐reflux Metal Stent versus Endoscopic Ultrasound‐guided Hepaticogastrostomy for Malignant Distal Biliary Obstruction in Pancreatic Cancer with Duodenal Invasion

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Duodenal invasion is a risk factor for early recurrent biliary obstruction (RBO) due to the increased risk of duodenobiliary reflux. Transpapillary biliary drainage using anti‐reflux metal stents (ARMS) and endoscopic ultrasound‐guided hepaticogastrostomy (EUS‐HGS) are two different strategies for this condition.

Effects of instillation locations of boulders at bottom of pool-and-weir fishway on migration rate of Zacco platypus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
It is important to keep suitable area by boulders in pooland- weir fishway to make the migration rate of fish high. In this study, migrating behaviors of Zacco platypus in pooland- weir fishway were compared with locations of boulders placed on the ...

Efficacy of the Stent‐in‐Stent Technique as a Rescue Method for Removing Embedded Metallic Biliary Stents

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
The stent‐in‐stent technique involves placing another fully covered metal stent inside an irremovable embedded stent to compress tissue and enable safe removal. In this study of 17 patients, the overall technical success rate was 76.5%, with higher efficacy via EUS‐guided hepaticogastrostomy (100%) and transpapillary routes (80%).

In ovo omnia: diversification by duplication in fish and other vertebrates : [minireview] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Gene and genome duplications are considered to be the main evolutionary mechanisms contributing to the unrivalled biodiversity of bony fish. New studies of vitellogenin yolk proteins, including a report in BMC Evolutionary Biology, reveal that the genes ...

The Unseen Crisis of Sharks and Rays in Senegal

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study presents a conservative quantitative assessment of shark and ray landings and trade in Senegal, revealing extensive exploitation of threatened species. Surveys at two major artisanal processing sites in the Casamance region recorded over 170,000 individuals, mostly rays, with nearly all biomass comprising species at risk of extinction, and ...

Delivering precision oncology in metastatic breast cancer: Clinical impact of comprehensive genomic profiling—The CATCH experience

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 6, Page 1675-1689, 15 March 2026.
What's new? CATCH is a prospective precision oncology registry trial that harnesses whole‐genome/exome‐ and RNA‐sequencing to enable actionable biomarker detection in metastatic breast cancer patients of any subtype. The data of the first 412 consecutive patients with completed follow‐up in this real‐world, single‐center patient cohort provide robust ...

Look before you Hop: Conversational Question Answering over Knowledge Graphs Using Judicious Context Expansion

open access: yes, 2019
Fact-centric information needs are rarely one-shot; users typically ask follow-up questions to explore a topic. In such a conversational setting, the user's inputs are often incomplete, with entities or predicates left out, and ungrammatical phrases ...

Comparative Biology of Temperate and Subtropical Bark and Ambrosia Beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytidae, Platypodidae) in Indiana and Florida [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Bark and ambrosia beetles were compared from two intensively studied sites. The Indiana site produced 58 species, the Florida site 57 species; 17 species occurred at both sites. Much greater plant host diversity at the Indiana site seems balanced by more
