Taxonomy and immature stages of the Platystomatidae (Diptera: Tephritoidea) of Israel
The Platystomatidae fauna of Israel is reviewed. Eleven species in two genera, Platystoma Meigen and Rivellia Robineau-Desvoidy, are recognized. Abstract Zygaenula Doleschall, 1858 and Mesoctenia Enderlein, 1924 syn. nov. are small genera restricted to the Australasia region. Here, both genera are considered synonymous, supported by the synapomorphy width of frons, in relation to height, more than two times. A new species, Zygaenula mcalpinei sp. nov.

New taxa of signal flies (Diptera: Platystomatidae) of New Caledonia [PDF]
Possible explanations are sought for the distribution patterns of platystomatid genera in Pacific Oceania, with special reference to those of New Caledonia. A key to the eleven known genera of New Caledonia (including the Loyalty Islands) is given. Five of these genera are endemic to this province of the Australasian Region.

Monitoring invertebrates in cereal fields in southern England over 50 years (1970–2019) showed an overall decline in abundance. For taxa at the order/family level, 47% declined in abundance, 16% increased and 37% showed no change. Most functional groups declined, expect for pollinators—whose abundance did not change overall.
