Large‐diameter subsea shield tunnels in coastal areas may inevitably cross saturated soils with different liquefaction resistance and are thus susceptible to seismic damage during earthquakes. This study investigated the seismic response and deformation mechanism of a shield tunnel embedded in nonuniform liquefiable soils subjected to transverse ground

Uncertainty assessment of a dike with an anchored sheet pile wall using FEM
The Dutch design codes for the dikes with retaining walls rely on Finite Element Analysis (FEM) in combination with partial safety factors. However, this can lead to conservative designs.

In the present paper, a three‐dimensional (3D) numerical model was established to assess the ground vibrations induced by vehicles traversing road surface irregularities. The equations of motion for the coupled system, comprising a multibody vehicle model and road unevenness profiles, were first solved to determine the dynamic vehicle loads.

Polyurethane based ground improvement for slope stabilisation: experimental and numerical evaluation
The reduction in factor of safety (FOS) of any slope is due to a reduction in total stress. To increase the strength of the soil slope, commonly adopted techniques lead to environmental impact.

Numerical Analysis of Parametric Effects on Pile‐Stabilized Slopes Under Lateral Load
Slope instability poses significant risks to infrastructure, demanding effective stabilization methods. Piles have been widely used as a slope stabilization method because of their ability to resist lateral soil pressure and transfer loads to competent strata with little disturbance.
