Tall fescue performance in response to natural organic and synthetic granular fertilizers and Rhizoctonia solani inoculation

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 66, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Repeated applications of natural organic based fertilizers can benefit soil health and potentially suppress some turfgrass diseases. One of the major summer diseases affecting many lawns is brown patch (caused by various Rhizoctonia and Rhizoctonia‐like species).

Relationship between Patterned Grounds Evolutions and Spatial and Temporal Changes in the Chemical Compounds of SAHL ABAD Playa Salt Flats (Case Study: Khorasan province) [PDF]

open access: yesجغرافیا و پایداری محیط, 2019
The sensitive environment of Playa, as one of the largest mineral resources, has a special place in economic activities. Chemical compounds available in Playa are essential for soil which are used to fertilize agricultural soil.

Cumulative heatwave stress disrupts thermal homeostasis and plumage structure in a Mediterranean passerine

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 7, Page 1960-1978, July 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Heatwaves are becoming increasingly frequent across the Mediterranean and pose critical challenges for small passerines, yet the physiological and morphological limits to their resilience remain poorly understood.

Advancing Ecological Understanding and Sustainable Management of Small Pelagic Fish

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, Volume 27, Issue 4, Page 850-864, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Small pelagic fish (SPF) are critical to the trophodynamic structure and function of marine systems and support some of the most valuable and socially important fisheries worldwide. Their “boom and bust” population dynamics, shifts in distribution, and importance as forage resources for other fish stocks place unique challenges to assessing ...

Frequency‐Dependent Acoustic Reflection Coefficients of Flat Ground Assessed Using the Sonic Boom From the OSIRIS‐Rex Sample Return Capsule Recorded on Free Flying Balloons

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract Low frequency sound can travel great distances in planetary atmospheres. When these waves reflect off the air/ground interface, energy may be absorbed or transferred to mechanical waves in the subsurface. This study describes the direct and reflected acoustic wave generated by the re‐entry of the OSIRIS‐REx Sample Return Capsule captured on a ...

Comparison of Soil Mineralogy From EMIT Imaging Spectroscopy and Ground‐Based Measurements in the Deserts of Southern California

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract The highly variable spatial composition of desert soils remains a major source of uncertainty in estimates of dust radiative forcing. Existing soil mineralogy data sets used in climate models are limited by sparse ground observations and coarse spatial resolution.

Geomorphological characteristics of the Um-Rimam depression in northern Kuwait

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2013
Um-Rimam depression is one of the largest depressions in Kuwait. It is about 16.5 km2 and located in northern Kuwait. It consists of a northern and southern playa whose floors cover 0.39 and 0.72 km2 at 50 m and 60 m above sea level, respectively.
