Turko-Mongols of Central and Inner Asia: The Pleiades as Part of Folk Knowledge
Introduction. The The Pleiades star cluster was the most important asterism in the life of Inner and Central Asian nomads — of all the astral objects visible in the night sky — as a guide in time and space during the hours of darkness.

Affordable phenomics: Expanding access to enhancing genetic gain in plant breeding
Abstract Plant breeders need to evaluate large breeding populations rapidly and accurately to identify and assess genetic variation responsible for many traits, including yield, quality, resistance, and climate resilience. Although advanced molecular tools, including marker‐assisted selection, genomic selection, and gene editing, are being used to ...

Li I and K I Scatter in Cool Pleiades Dwarfs [PDF]
We utilize high-resolution (R~60,000), high S/N (~100) spectroscopy of 17 cool Pleiades dwarfs to examine the confounding star-to-star scatter in the 6707 Li I line strengths in this young cluster.

What Was Homer Honing in the Odyssey?
Abstract We summarize the data provided in Homer's the Odyssey concerning Odysseus' journey and suggest a completely new view of what was Homer trying to convey to us. We suggest that Homer was honing the idea of synergy between rules (determinism) and chance (randomness), an idea deeply rooted in natural processes as well in mathematics.

AB Doradus C: Age, Spectral Type, Orbit, and Comparison to Evolutionary Models
We expand upon the results of Close et al. 2005 regarding the young, low-mass object AB Dor C and its role as a calibration point for theoretical tracks. We present an improved spectral reduction and a new orbital solution with two additional epochs. Our

Angular Momentum Evolution of Stars in the Orion Nebula Cluster [PDF]
(Abridged) We present theoretical models of stellar angular momentum evolution from the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) to the Pleiades and the Hyades. We demonstrate that observations of the Pleiades and Hyades place tight constraints on the angular momentum

Inspired by natural light‐harvesting systems, this study computationally investigates a synthetic antenna by arranging cationic free‐base porphyrin molecules on an anionic clay surface. Using a multiscale quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) approach combined with a multifidelity machine learning method, excitation energies are predicted ...
