Metastasizing Pleomorphic Adenoma: A Fascinating Enigma

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2012
Among salivary gland neoplasms, metastasizing pleomorphic adenoma (MPA) constitutes an extremely rare group of tumors. The present paper reports a case of pleomorphic adenoma (PA) in submandibular gland that, after more than 30 years of initial treatment,

Clinicopathological and Prognostic Features of Pleomorphic Adenoma, Recurrent Pleomorphic Adenoma, and Carcinoma ex Pleomorphic Adenoma: A 20‐Year Retrospective Analysis

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common salivary gland tumor, and a subset may recur as recurrent PA (RPA) or progress to carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (CXPA). However, comparative evaluations of their biological behavior and prognostic factors remain limited.

Schwannoma-like pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid

open access: yesRare Tumors, 2011
Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common benign salivary gland tumour. It can occur in any salivary gland, but is most frequently found in the parotid gland. Chondroid metaplasia is a frequent finding in pleomorphic adenoma.

Pleomorphic adenoma of nasal septum: a case report

open access: yesB-ENT, 2010
Pleomorphic adenoma of nasal septum: a case report. Pleomorphic adenoma of the nasal septum presents a clinical diagnostic challenge. We report a rare case of pleomorphic adenoma of the nasal septum in a 39-year-old woman with a 1-month history of nasal ...

Pleomorphic adenoma and carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma tumorigenesis: A proteomic analysis. [PDF]

open access: yesOral Dis
Abstract Objectives To conduct a comprehensive proteomic analysis of normal salivary gland tissue, pleomorphic adenoma (PA), and carcinoma ex‐pleomorphic adenoma (CXPA), and validate the proteomic findings using immunohistochemistry ...

Nodular Fasciitis of the Parotid Gland Mimicking Pleomorphic Adenoma: Cytological Features of a Diagnostic Pitfall

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, Volume 54, Issue 9, Page E221-E226, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Nodular fasciitis (NF) is a self‐limiting mesenchymal neoplasm that typically occurs in the subcutaneous tissue of the extremities, trunk, and head and neck region; involvement of the parotid gland is very rare. The cytological features of NF can closely mimic those seen in salivary gland neoplasms, particularly pleomorphic adenoma (PA ...

Evaluation of Systemic Inflammatory Markers in Predicting Malignancy in Parotid Gland Tumors

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 9, Page 3783-3790, September 2026.
Preoperative systemic inflammatory indices may assist in distinguishing benign from malignant parotid tumors. In this cohort of 259 patients undergoing parotidectomy, malignant tumors were associated with higher neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (PLR) values, as well as larger tumor size and older age.

Transoral Robotic Resection of Pediatric Tongue Base Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 9, Page 4043-4048, September 2026.
Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) offers a precise, minimally invasive approach for the management of rare pediatric tongue base malignancies. Intraoperative visualization demonstrates accurate tumor delineation and controlled resection, while postoperative findings confirm effective oncologic clearance with preservation of surrounding structures.

Transcriptomic Profiling of Canine Mammary Tumours Reveals Significant Heterogeneity Between and Within Histological Classes

open access: yesVeterinary and Comparative Oncology, Volume 24, Issue 3, Page 444-457, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents a comprehensive transcriptomic analysis of 128 canine mammary tumours (CMTs), aiming to characterize their molecular landscape. Differential gene expression analysis (DGE), gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and clustering based on the human PAM50 gene panel were applied to explore molecular differences between the ...
