Limitations of Common Molecular Markers in Fungal Biodiversity Analysis and the Benefits of Their Synergistic Use. [PDF]
ABSTRACT High‐throughput sequencing of the Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) regions is the primary method for estimating fungal diversity from environmental DNA. However, reliance solely on ITS markers is complicated by its high variability in sequence length and the presence of multiple variants within a single genome, which can bias diversity ...

Three novel species of Helminthosporium (Massarinaceae, Pleosporales) from China [PDF]
Three new species of Helminthosporium, H. nabanhensis, H. sinensis and H. yunnanensis collected on dead branches of unidentified plants in Xishuangbanna, China, were proposed by morphological and molecular phylogenetic analysis. Phylogenetic analysis of the combined data of ITS-SSU-LSU-TEF1-RPB2 sequences was performed using Maximum-Likelihood and ...

Multi-gene phylogenetic evidence suggests Dictyoarthrinium belongs in Didymosphaeriaceae (Pleosporales, Dothideomycetes) and Dictyoarthrinium musae sp. nov. on Musa from Thailand [PDF]
Dead leaves of Musa sp. (banana) were collected in northern Thailand during an investigation of saprobic fungi. Preliminary morphological observations revealed that three specimens belong to Dictyoarthrinium.

Neodendryphiella, a novel genus of the Dictyosporiaceae (Pleosporales) [PDF]
In a survey of soil and herbivore dung microfungi in Mexico and Spain, several dendryphiella-like species were found. Phylogenetic analyses based on ITS and LSU sequences showed that these fungi belonged to the family Dictyosporiaceae (Pleosporales) and represent an undescribed monophyletic lineage distant fromDendryphiella.
