Noninvasive assessment of asthma severity using pulse oximeter plethysmograph estimate of pulsus paradoxus physiology [PDF]

open access: goldBMC Pulmonary Medicine, 2010
Background Pulsus paradoxus estimated by dynamic change in area under the oximeter plethysmograph waveform (PEP) might provide a measure of acute asthma severity.

Estimation of airway obstruction using oximeter plethysmograph waveform data [PDF]

open access: goldRespiratory Research, 2005
Background Validated measures to assess the severity of airway obstruction in patients with obstructive airway disease are limited. Changes in the pulse oximeter plethysmograph waveform represent fluctuations in arterial flow.

Plethysmograph training: A refinement for collection of respiration data in mice [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, 2023
Inhaled chemicals can harm the airways. Different effects can result in distinct changes in respiratory patterns; the type of change indicates where and how the respiratory system is affected.

Bayesian Model Search for Nonstationary Periodic Time Series [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Statistical Association, T&M, 2019, 2018
We propose a novel Bayesian methodology for analyzing nonstationary time series that exhibit oscillatory behaviour. We approximate the time series using a piecewise oscillatory model with unknown periodicities, where our goal is to estimate the change-points while simultaneously identifying the potentially changing periodicities in the data.

Delineation of Raw Plethysmograph using Wavelets for Mobile based Pulse Oximeters [PDF]

open access: greenarXiv, 2010
The non-invasive pulse-oximeter is a crucial parameter in continuous monitoring systems. It plays a vital role from admission of the patient to surgeries with general anaesthesia. The paper proposes the application of wavelet transform to delineate the raw plethysmograph signals obtained from basic portable and mobile-powered electronic hardware.

Use of pulse oximeter plethysmograph waveform to monitor patients with acute exacerbation of obstructive airway diseases

open access: diamondThe Egyptian Journal of Bronchology
Background Acute exacerbation of obstructive airway diseases is the most frequent acute clinical scenario in ER in chest hospitals. There are limited objective and continuous real-time measures of acute exacerbation severity to guide treatment.
