Robotic-Assisted Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intrathoracic Chemotherapy in Metastatic Pleuropulmonary Leiomyosarcoma: A Case Report. [PDF]

open access: yesCase Rep Oncol Med
Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is a rare and aggressive soft tissue sarcoma known for its propensity for hematogenous dissemination, frequently involving the lungs and pleura. We present a case of metastatic pleuropulmonary LMS managed with a novel combined approach: robotic‐assisted cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intrathoracic chemotherapy (HITHOC).

Pleurectomy and decortication [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Translational Medicine, 2017
Pleurectomy and decortication (P/D) improve survival and quality of life in selected patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma. The operative procedure was not standardized until recently. The goal of the operation is to perform a macroscopic complete resection of the tumor.
