Abstract Notosuchians were key components of western Gondwanan Cretaceous ecosystems in terrestrial predator niches and exhibited remarkable taxonomic and ecological diversity. Previous research has explored their physiology, metabolism, and histology, revealing varied growth patterns and life history strategies.

Zebrafish pde6c mutants undergo photoreceptor degeneration from 5 dpf, but rods regenerate from 4 wpf. scRNA‐seq of retinal microglia reveals dynamic change of states between 5 dpf and 4 wpf. Two states emerge specifically during regeneration. ABSTRACT Microglia, brain‐resident immune cells, maintain brain homeostasis.

Distinct microglial subpopulations are depicted, highlighting variations in gene expression and functional roles in response to specific disease conditions and the complexity of microglial activation and differentiation in neurodegeneration. ABSTRACT Microglial cells are key players in maintaining brain homeostasis and responding to pathological ...

Critical point drying of brain tissue for X‐ray phase‐contrast imaging
X‐ray phase contrast tomography can efficiently image brain tissue at subcellular resolution. Critical point drying allows a gentle replacement of interstitial material by air, enhancing X‐ray phase contrast of the ultrastructural features.X‐ray phase‐contrast tomography can efficiently image brain tissue at subcellular resolution.

Novel drugs approved by the EMA, the FDA and the MHRA in 2025: A year in review
Abstract In the 2025 novel drug mini‐review, one can take a full measure of the ingenuity that underlies current drug design and development, despite the year's smaller harvest (46 novel drugs) compared to 2024 (53) and 2023 (70). 54% of the novel drugs are first‐in‐class (FIC).

Bilateral Giant Plexiform Neurofibromas In Neurofibromatosis Type 1
A single plexiform neurofibroma or two of any type are considered diagnostic of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF). Plexiform neurofibromas are congenital and pathognomonic for NF-1.

We investigated the roles of PKM2, PKM1, and LDHA in retinal metabolism and structural integrity. In the normal retina, these enzymes are maintained at defined levels that support photoreceptor function. Rod‐specific deletion of LDHA, alone or with PKM2, caused age‐dependent degeneration, as PKM1 induction did not reach levels comparable to PKM2.

Impact of obesity with impaired glucose tolerance on retinal degeneration in a rat model of metabolic syndrome. [PDF]
PurposeMetabolic syndrome (MetS) is associated with several degenerative diseases, including retinal degeneration. Previously, we reported on progressive retinal degeneration in a spontaneous obese rat (WNIN/Ob) model.
