Potato leafhopper (PLH) is the most damaging alfalfa pest in the Northeast (NE). Forage grasses mixed with alfalfa can cause PLH to emigrate but may reduce forage quality. Some alfalfa cultivars have PLH-resistance, yet are not immune to PLH damage.
