<p>Cloud has profound impacts on climate, thus accurate cloud simulation is critical for accurate climate modelling. As the greatest source of uncertainty in such models, cloud drives discrepancies in the prediction of future climate. Cloud simulations are validated against recent observations; however, these records do not capture the ...

A pre-Pliocene or Pliocene land surface in County Galway, Ireland
Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 1997Abstract This paper describes a site on the Carboniferous limestone of County Galway, Ireland, where a complex of gorges, cave passages and shallow surface depressions is filled with organic silt and clay overlain by white quartz sand. The dating of the biogenic deposits to the Late Pliocene by biostratigraphical means provides a record of ...

Pliocene hominin biogeography and ecology
Journal of Human Evolution, 2015Australopithecus bahrelghazali, its origin and palaeobiology are not well understood. Reported from only one location some several thousand kilometres away from East African Pliocene hominin sites, it appears to have predominantly fed on C4 sources. Yet, it lacks the morphological adaptations of other primate C4 consumers like Paranthropus boisei and ...

Pliocene Antelopes of the Pronghorn Type
Science, 1935The phylogeny of the Antilocapridae and reported species giving rise to Antilocapra americana has been a subject of considerable interest to paleontologists. The work of W. D. Matthew on the Merycodus of Miocene and Pliocene age, and that of J. C. Merriam on Illingoceros and Sphenophalos from the Pliocene, has increased considerably our knowledge of ...

Pliocene Pronghorns of Florida
Journal of Mammalogy, 1973Two genera and species of Antilocaprinae occur in Hemphillian (middle Pliocene) deposits of Florida. Hexameryx simpsoni White bore three widely divergent horns above each orbit. The middle horn is more anteriorly directed in larger-horned individuals. This distinction, previously used to separate H. elmorei from H.

Pliocene-Pleistocene Sedimentation
2018Paleomagnetic data, including the recent high-quality measurements, estimate the average mean sedimentation rate in the Mendeleev Ridge for the last 4 Ma as 1–1.5 mm/kyr, rising slightly towards the shelf seas of northeast Russia. The rates also increase towards the Lomonosov Ridge: in its near-Greenland sector, the Brunhes/Matuyama transition was ...

The Pliocene Canidae of Florida
Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History, 1969A new genus and species of canid, Carpocyon limosus is described from the Hemphillian (Middle Pliocene) Bone Valley Formation. Though showing strong omnivorous tendencies, it is not closely related to cynarctine canids; nor is it close to Actiocyon Stock which is here synonymized with Alopecocyon Camp and Vanderhoof.
