Molecular Ecology, 2012
Inferences of whole genome duplication (WGD) events accompany the annotation of every newly sequenced plant genome, but much remains unknown about the evolutionary processes and pathways relating to WGD (Soltis et al. 2010). What ecological, biogeographical and genetic factors cause WGD to occur in nature? How does WGD affect gene expression?

Ploidy differences in Cryptococcus albidus
Mycopathologia et Mycologia Applicata, 1970Presumed haploid and diploid cultures ofCryptococcus albidus were analysed for their DNA content per cell. A ratio of approximately 1:2 was obtained by relating the DNA content per cell of the two phases to ploidy. As the diplophase formed neither longitudinally septated cells nor ballistoconidia, the earlier suggestions thatCryptococcus is closely ...

Ploidy Regulation of Gene Expression
Science, 1999Microarray-based gene expression analysis identified genes showing ploidy-dependent expression in isogenic Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains that varied in ploidy from haploid to tetraploid. These genes were induced or repressed in proportion to the number of chromosome sets, regardless of the mating type.

Megakaryocytic Ploidy in Myelodysplastic Syndromes
Leukemia & Lymphoma, 1993The megakaryocytic ploidy was microfluorometrically measured in 12 normal controls and 15 myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) patients using DAPI (4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole) staining after destaining of the Wright-Giemsa (WG) stain. MDS patients had slightly more immature megakaryocytes when compared with normal controls.

DNA ploidy: Early malignant lesions
Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 1992The nuclear DNA content of prostate cancer specimens, both needle biopsies and aspiration biopsy specimens as well as transurethral resection (TUR) chips and radical prostatectomy specimens, can now be reliably measured by standardized methods of flow and static image cytometry.

Ploidy Study in Sporothrix schenkii
Fungal Genetics and Biology, 1999Sporothrix schenckii is a dimorphic fungus that is pathogenic for humans. No sexual cycle has been reported for this fungus and little is known of its genetic constitution. To inquire into the ploidy state of Sporothrix schenckii, different approaches were followed: DNA content during transition from conidia to yeast, survival to ultraviolet ...

Ploidy of testicular carcinoma in situ.
Laboratory investigation; a journal of technical methods and pathology, 1992The ploidy of carcinoma in situ and invasive germ cell tumors of the adult testis was compared by DNA flow cytometry. Irrespective of the tumor type with which it was associated, the median DNA index of carcinoma in situ was about the same as that of seminomas and higher than the DNA index of invasive nonseminomatous germ cell tumors.
