Braid Plot—A Mixed Palette Plotting Method as an Extension of Contour Plot
IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 2022In this article, we propose a new method of three-dimensional data plotting based on the use of mixed hue palettes, which makes it possible to distinguish simultaneously both huge and subtle changes in the value of the presented quantity at the same plot.

We propose a new framework for visualising tables of counts, proportions and probabilities. We call our framework product plots, alluding to the computation of area as a product of height and width, and the statistical concept of generating a joint distribution from the product of conditional and marginal distributions.

ABSTRACT Data visualizations, particularly in the form of word maps and plotted graphs, have become a hallmark of the so-called “digital humanities.” It is important for creators and readers of these depictions to remember that they are not “data” but readings, interpretations of data mediated by programmed algorithms and hermeneutic ...

Plot Sampling with Plots of Unequal Sizes
Calcutta Statistical Association Bulletin, 1998Assuming that the trees in the forests are randomly distributed, it is demonstrated that plot sampling with unequal sized plots generally leads to a more precise estimate of the tree parameter totals than that with plots of equal sizes. The optimUlll choice of individual plot sizes has been discussed for a given (i) total plot size and (ii) cost (with ...

Plot of plots and selection glass
SPIE Proceedings, 2006Modern dynamic data visualization environments often feature complex displays comprised of many interactive components, such as plots, axes, and others. These components typically contain attributes or properties that can be manipulated programmatically or interactively. Component property manipulation is usually a two-stage process.

Plotting as Subversion: Narrative and the Gunpowder Plot
Journal of Narrative Theory, 2008When we mean to build, We first survey the plot, then draw the model, And when we see the figure of the house, Then must we rate the cost of the erection, Which if we find outweighs ability, What do we then but draw anew the model In fewer offices, or at last desist To build at all?

Visualization by heat maps is a powerful technique for showing frequently visited areas in displayed stimuli. However, by aggregating the spatio-temporal data, heat maps lose the information about the transitions between fixations, i.e., the saccades.
