SemGeoFrame: A Visual Matching Framework for Aircraft Based on Surface Semantic Information

open access: yesRemote Sensing
In GNSS-denied environments, UAV visual positioning faces the critical bottleneck of low matching accuracy between heterogeneous images. To address this, we propose SemGeoFrame, a visual matching framework that leverages surface semantic information to ...

Plug-in estimation of level sets in a non-compact setting with applications in multivariate risk theory [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper deals with the problem of estimating the level sets of an unknown distribution function $F$. A plug-in approach is followed. That is, given a consistent estimator $F_n$ of $F$, we estimate the level sets of $F$ by the level sets of $F_n$.

Biodegradable and Edible Milli‐Fluidic Logic Circuits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Fully biodegradable and edible fluidic circuits are developed using gelatin‐based valves that operate at low pressure. Logic gates, a one‐bit memory, and a ring oscillator are demonstrated, showing that biodegradable materials can perform computation and control.

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a

HiGS: History-Guided Sampling for Plug-and-Play Enhancement of Diffusion Models

open access: yesCoRR
While diffusion models have made remarkable progress in image generation, their outputs can still appear unrealistic and lack fine details, especially when using fewer number of neural function evaluations (NFEs) or lower guidance scales. To address this issue, we propose a novel momentum-based sampling technique, termed history-guided sampling (HiGS),

Bandwidth Selection for Multivariate Kernel Density Estimation Using MCMC [PDF]

open access: yes
Kernel density estimation for multivariate data is an important technique that has a wide range of applications in econometrics and finance. However, it has received significantly less attention than its univariate counterpart.

Test beam performance of the CDF plug upgrade hadron calorimeter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We report on the performance of the CDF End Plug Hadron Calorimeter in a test beam. The sampling calorimeter is constructed using 2 inch iron absorber plates and scintillator planes with wavelength shifting fibers for readout.

Multilevel Embedding and Dropout for Improved 3D Object Detection in Autonomous Driving Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A plug‐in framework for RoI‐based 3D object detectors exploits previously untapped multi‐level information within RoI features. Its novel multi‐level embedding and dropout strategy enables the detection head to generate predictions at different feature levels.

Surveillance Analysis and Sample Size Explorer (SASSE): Learning How to Plan Disease Surveillance in Wildlife

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Wildlife disease surveillance helps in protecting public health, agriculture, and biodiversity. Planning effective surveillance involves strategic methods for identifying an effective sampling design for a program's objectives. Gaps in existing standards
