Modeling the Mechanical Properties of Root–Substrate Interaction with a Transplanter Using Artificial Neural Networks

open access: yesAgriculture
The mechanical properties of a plug seedling substrate determine whether it will crush during the transplantation, thereby affecting the integrity of the root system and the survival rate of transplanted seedlings.

“Two‐steps” seed‐derived plugs as an effective propagation method for the establishment of Miscanthus in saline–alkaline soil

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, 2021
Miscanthus, a perennial rhizomatous C4 grass, has emerged as a promising lignocellulosic crop. To avoid competition with food crops, marginal lands especially saline–alkaline soil are being recommended to grow Miscanthus across China.

Establishment of the Interaction Simulation Model between Plug Seedlings and Soil

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Currently, the simulation parameters for the model of the interaction between the transplanter, the plug seedlings, the soil, and the pot damage mechanism still need to be clarified. The optimization design of the planters and the improvement of planting

Design and force analysis of end-effector for plug seedling transplanter

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2017
Automatic transplanters have been very important in greenhouses since the popularization of seedling nurseries. End-effector development is a key technology for transplanting plug seedlings. Most existing end-effectors have problems with holding root plugs or releasing plugs.

Determining frequencies of fungicide resistance in Leptosphaeria maculans that render demethylation inhibitor fungicides ineffective in the field

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
As little as 1–10% of the population is needed to be resistant for demethylation inhibitor fungicides to be rendered ineffective. Following a single round of selection, the frequency increases by more than 15% with limited fitness penalty detected when no selection is present.

Design, development and application of a compact robotic transplanter with automatic seedling picking mechanism for plug-type seedlings

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
AbstractAutomation of agricultural operation such as seedling transplanting is needed to ensure efficient as well as timely operation. Robotics is the area that needs to be focused for the future of automatic seedling transplanter. This paper presents the design, development as well as working of the robotic transplanter (RT) for plug seedlings.

Resistance of Botrytis cinerea to anilinopyrimidine fungicides: A novel ARMS‐PCR method for the detection of Bcpos5 mutations and characterization of resistance using CRISPR/Cas9 editing

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
A TETRA‐primer amplification refractory mutation system polymerase chain reaction (T‐ARMS‐PCR) method was developed for simultaneous detection of the L412F/V and G408V mutations. L412F/V mutants were created using the CRISPR/Cas tool and no fitness cost was observed.
