Compressor blade flutter in combined plunge-twist mode shapes

open access: yes, 2023
Modern aeroengine compressor designs strive to reduce weight and maintain high aerodynamic efficiency. Therefore, the aim of initial compressor designs is to implement novel features that achieve these goals. However, some modern features result in greatly reduced damping, which can lead to vibrational instabilities such as flutter.

Cause and Countermeasure Analysis of Severe Weight-on-bit Congestion in Small Angle Deviated Hole Interval

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2021
In order to solve the severe weight-on-bit(WOB)congestion problem in small angle deviated hole interval, this article analyzed the main reasons for the occurrence of steps or slopes on borehole wall, built a WOB transfer law analysis model for bent ...

Energy transfer due to shoaling and decomposition of breaking and non-breaking waves over a submerged bar

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2017
Wave propagation over a submerged bar is simulated using the open source CFD model REEF3D with various incident wave heights to study shoaling, wave breaking features and the process of wave decomposition into higher harmonics for relatively long waves ...

Interlayer Expansion of Bulk MoS2 via Top‐Down Organic Pillaring Enables Tunable Li+ Intercalation and Controlled Solvent Co‐Intercalation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Top‐down organic pillaring expands the interlayer spacing of bulk‐sized MoS2 particles while preserving the bulk morphology. Operando X‐ray diffraction and electrochemical dilatometry show that MoS2‐bulk undergoes solvent co‐intercalation in diglyme electrolyte, causing large structural expansion, while pillared, expanded MoS2 suppresses solvent uptake

Shape Memory Microneedle to Prevent Risks of Reproductive Hormone Therapy by Switching Sustained to Burst Release Under a Single Transdermal Insertion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.

Gardiquimod Nanoemulsion Targets Cutaneous Leishmaniasis Lesions Reducing Systemic Toxicity and Parasite Burden

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion delivery of a TLR7 agonist enhances safety and promotes colocalization with Leishmania‐infected macrophages in skin lesions, enabling a ∼2‐log reduction in parasite burden. However, tissue‐level constraints and TLR‐driven regulatory feedback generate a mixed immune response that limits complete parasite clearance.

One-dimensional morphodynamic model coupling open-channel flow and turbidity current in reservoir

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 2017
Traditional depth-averaged morphodynamic models for turbidity currents usually focus on the propagation of currents after plunging. However, owing to the unsteady characteristic of the plunge point locations and the tough conditions of field measurement ...

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including
