Spatio-temporal evolution and multi-scenario simulation of landscape ecological risk in the Taohe River Basin based on the PLUS model

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
Ecological conservation and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin represent a major national strategy in China. The Taohe River Basin, the second-largest tributary in the upper reaches of the Yellow River Basin, lies at the transition zone ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Helping Public Housing Residents Find and Keep Jobs: A Guide for Practitioners Based on the Jobs-Plus Demonstration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This guide contains practical advice on implementing a program model -- known as the Jobs-Plus Community Initiative for Public Housing Families (Jobs-Plus) -- aimed at helping public housing residents find and keep jobs.

Effective shell model Hamiltonians from density functional theory: quadrupolar and pairing correlations

open access: yes, 2007
We describe a procedure for mapping a self-consistent mean-field theory (also known as density functional theory) into a shell model Hamiltonian that includes quadrupole-quadrupole and monopole pairing interactions in a truncated space.

Spatio-Temporal Evolution and Prediction of Carbon Storage in the Water Conservation Area of the Yellow River Basin based on the PLUS-InVEST Model

open access: yesGaoyuan qixiang
Climate and land-use change are important drivers of variation in carbon storage within terrestrial ecosystems.Investigating the effects of climate and land-use change on carbon storage has practical implications for proposing adaptive management ...

Coupling PLUS–InVEST Model for Ecosystem Service Research in Yunnan Province, China

open access: yesSustainability, 2022
In efforts to improve regional ecosystem service functions, coordinate land development and ecological conservation, and establish a reference for optimizing land resource allocation and policy formulation to cope with climate change, it is critical to ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Spatiotemporal variation characteristics of ecosystem carbon storage in Zhengzhou and future multi-scenario simulation prediction

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
As the typical megacity in the Central Plains, the simulation and prediction of Zhengzhou’s future land use and ecosystem carbon storage are of great significance for regional green and coordinated development.

Ecological Protection Alone Is Not Enough to Conserve Ecosystem Carbon Storage: Evidence from Guangdong, China

open access: yesLand, 2022
The increase in atmospheric CO2 caused by land use and land cover change (LUCC) is one of the drivers of the global climate. As one of the most typical high-urbanization areas, the ecological conflicts occurring in Guangdong Province warrant urgent ...
