Longevity of Plutonium 238 Heat Sources
ABSTRACTPlutonium oxide heat sources are used to power space missions. The heat produced by alpha decay of the 238 isotope of Pu is converted to electricity in a thermopile, providing electricity during a substantial fraction of the 88 year half-life of the isotope.

Chelation Modeling of a Plutonium-238 Inhalation Incident Treated with Delayed DTPA
This work describes an analysis, using a previously established chelation model, of the bioassay data collected from a worker who received delayed chelation therapy following a plutonium-238 inhalation. The details of the case have already been described

Analysis of system characteristics of a reactor with supercritical coolant parameters [PDF]
For 60 years of its existence, nuclear energy has passed the first stage of its development and has proven that it can become a powerful industry, going beyond the 10% level in the global balance of energy production.

NEUTRONICS ANALYSIS OF VVER-1000 CORE USING AT-FCM FUEL [PDF]
Using the Fully Ceramic Microencapsulated (FCM) fuel in light water reactors has multiple advantages, as it is accident tolerant because of; no hydrogen generation due to the cladding interaction with steam at high temperature, better retention of ...

A Possibility for Large-Scale Production of 238Pu in Light-Water Reactor VVER-1000
This paper considers the possibility for large-scale production of plutonium isotope 238Pu in the light-water nuclear power reactor VVER-1000. 238Pu is a unique source of long-term autonomous energy supply in various devices for remote regions of the ...

Measurements and modeling of airborne plutonium in Subarctic Finland between 1965 and 2011 [PDF]
The activity concentrations of 238,239,240Pu and 241Am (for determining its mother nuclide, 241Pu) as well as activity ratios of 238Pu/239+240Pu, 241Pu/239+240Pu and 239+240Pu/137Cs and the mass ratio of 240Pu∕239Pu were determined from air filter ...
