Multiple sources or late injection of short-lived r-nuclides in the early solar system? [PDF]
Comparisons between the predicted abundances of short-lived r-nuclides (107Pd, 129I, 182Hf, and 244Pu) in the interstellar medium (ISM) and the observed abundances in the early solar system (ESS) conclusively showed that these nuclides cannot simply be ...

Plutonium-238: Program analysis [PDF]
The program is designed to use the Richland reactors to increase the national production of Pu-238 in as efficient and economical a manner as practicable while giving attention to any short-term market requirements for Pu-238.

An imaging neutron/gamma-ray spectrometer [PDF]
We present the test results of a neutron/gamma-ray imaging spectrometer for the identification and location of radioactive and special nuclear materials. Radioactive materials that could be fashioned into a radiation dispersal device typically emit gamma

Ultraslow Wave Nuclear Burning of Uranium-Plutonium Fissile Medium on Epithermal Neutrons [PDF]
For a fissile medium, originally consisting of uranium-238, the investigation of fulfillment of the wave burning criterion in a wide range of neutron energies is conducted for the first time, and a possibility of wave nuclear burning not only in the ...

Neutron Energy Dependence of Delayed Neutron Yields and its Assessments
Incident neutron energy dependence of delayed neutron yields of uranium and plutonium isotopes is investigated. A summation calculation of decay and fission yield data is employed, and the energy dependence of the latter part is considered in a ...

Plutonium-238 Transuranic Waste Decision Analysis [PDF]
Five transuranic (TRU) waste sites in the Department of Energy (DOE) complex, collectively, have more than 2,100 cubic meters of Plutonium-238 (Pu-238) TRU waste that exceed the wattage restrictions of the Transuranic Package Transporter-II (TRUPACT-11). The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is being developed by the DOE as a repository for TRU waste.
