From hydrofluoroalkane pressurized metered dose inhalers (pMDIs) and comparability with chlorofluorocarbon pMDIs.

Respiratory medicine, 2000
Fluticasone propionate pressurized metered dose inhalers (pMDIs) containing the hydrofluoroalkane (HFA) propellant, HFA 134a, are being developed to replace existing chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) pMDIs. This is part of the ongoing worldwide project to limit the damage to the earth's ozone layer.

Holding chambers for pMDI use.

Drugs under experimental and clinical research, 1998
Spacer devices for pressurized metered-dose inhalers (pMDI) are needed to slow down the aerosol jet and hence to reduce oropharyngeal deposition as well as to overcome coordination problems. A new spacer, JET (Chiesi, Italy), which is less cumbersome to carry, was tested on five healthy volunteers.

Application of co-grinding to formulate a model pMDI suspension

European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics, 1999
The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of co-grinding the model drug, triamcinolone acetonide (TAA), with a polymeric surfactant on the in vitro performance of a model pMDI suspension system. The physicochemical properties of TAA after co-grinding with the surfactant, Pluronic F77, were determined by laser light diffraction, helium ...

Comparative Measurements of Pressurised Metered Dose Inhaler (pMDI) Stem Displacement

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2008
A technique was developed to enable direct measurement of a pressurised metered dose inhaler actuation cycle. Three commercially available 250 microg.dose(-1) beclomethasone diproprianate formulations were chosen for analysis; Becloforte (Glaxosmithkline, Sussex), Clenil Forte (Chiesi, Parma, Italy), and BDP-Modulite (Chiesi-Glaxosmithkline).

Combinations of Low Formaldehyde-Aminoplast Glues and PMDI

The Journal of Adhesion, 1982
Abstract Basic research on the formaldehyde emission from aminoplast-bonded particleboard has led to the conclusion that F-emission is essentially governed by the gross molar ratio of formaldehyde to NH2 equivalents in the material. From this starting point a new approach was chosen in the development of a glue for low-F-emission boards: such a level ...

Morphological Analysis of PF/pMDI Hybrid Wood Adhesives

Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2008
Simple blends of polymeric methylenebis(phenylisocyanate), pMDI, dispersed in aqueous phenol formaldehyde, PF, were studied to determine how the emulsion structure impacted the resulting solid-state morphology. Shortly after mixing, optical microscopy of the liquid emulsions revealed rapid membrane formation around the dispersed pMDI droplets.

Surface Energy and Interparticle Force Correlation in Model pMDI Formulations

Pharmaceutical Research, 2005
To compare experimental measurements of particle cohesion and adhesion forces in a model propellant with theoretical measurements of the interfacial free energy of particulate interactions; with the aim of characterizing suspension stability of pressurized metered dose inhalers (pMDIs).Interparticulate forces of salbutamol sulfate, budesonide, and ...

Investigation of multiphase multicomponent aerosol flow dictating pMDI-spacer interactions

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2017
The use of Pressurized metered dose inhalers (pMDIs) for the treatment of asthma and other chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases is frequently associated with breath-actuation synchronization problems and poor pulmonary delivery, particularly amongst the pediatric and geriatric population groups.

Pharmacokinetic interaction of glycopyrronium bromide pMDI and formoterol pMDI: A randomized, open-label, single-dose, 4-way cross-over study

5.1 Airway Pharmacology and Treatment, 2015
Background: As part of the development program for an inhaled triple combination (CHF 5993 pMDI) as a twice-daily therapy for the treatment of COPD and asthma, with extrafine inhaled corticosteroid, Glycopyrronium bromide (GB), and Formoterol Fumarate (FF), this study investigated the pharmacokinetic (PK) interaction between GB and formoterol, the ...
