Beyond Nanoporosity: A CO2‐Conditioned Glassy Matrix Contributes to the Brittle‐to‐Ductile Transition of Nanocellular Polyetherimide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The mechanical performance of nanocellular polyetherimide cannot be explained by nanoporosity alone. It is shown that CO2 saturation and desorption leave a distinct mechanical signature in the glassy matrix before foaming. This matrix contribution provides a new route to understand and optimize the brittle to ductile transition in nanocellular polymers.

PMMA with Long-Persistent Phosphors and Its Behavior of Luminescence

open access: yes, 2006
A new kind of rare earth material with high efficient long-persistent phosphors, such as SrAl2O4: Eu, Dy, has been developed in recent years. The PMMA with long-persistent phosphors is typical one of applications for the phosphors.

Technological parameters and PMMA surface structure

open access: yes, 2019
The paper focuses on the issue of microprocessing of polymer materials by laser. Specifically, the task is solved by changing the technological parameters, namely the cutting speed, the power and a change of DPI and their impact on the resulting surface ...

Metastable Polymers for Circular 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
3D‐printed polymers are usually permanent and hard to recycle. Here, metastable polymers are designed to fall apart on demand. A chemical trigger unzips the printed material back into its original building blocks within minutes at room temperature.

Preparation and Photocatalytic Performance of PMMA and ZnO/PMMA Nanocomposite films

open access: yesJournal of Kufa-Physics
This study used a simple drop-casting method to create polymethyl methacrylate/zinc oxide (PMMA/ZnO) nanocomposite films. The structural, morphological, and optical properties, and photocatalytic activity of the produced films were studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed that pure PMMA is amorphous, while the composite film showed clear peaks for ...

PMMA Wettability Caused by Ultraviolet Radiation

open access: yes
Poly methyl metha acrylate (PMMA) is widely in use for eye prostheses and contact lenses. The latter is under ultraviolet radiation of Sun. Therefore the PMMA properties could be influenced and bring the patient to discomfort, because of polymer surface ...
