DC Conductivity and Interfacial Polarization in PMMA/Nanotube and PMMA/Soot Composites

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2007
This work focuses on the DC conductivity and interfacial polarization of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) composites made with single wall nanotubes (SWNTs) and nanotube precursor soot. We aim to compare and contrast the behavior of the two nanofillers in an effort to determine if the precursor material imparts tunable electrical properties to PMMA ...

Bimodal PMMA Brushes as Efficient SAN/PMMA Blend Compatibilizers

Journal of Applied Polymer Science
ABSTRACT Herein, poly(styrene‐ co ‐acrylonitrile)/poly(methyl methacrylate) (SAN/PMMA, 70/30 wt%) blends with the PMMA matrix of various molecular weights were prepared, and their miscibility was investigated at 180°C and 210°C.

Physical Aging Effects in a-PMMA and PEO/a-PMMA Blends

1998
Evolution of physical properties originating from non-equilibrium of glasses is referred to in the literature after Struik (1978) as physical aging, and can take place in homopolymers, polymer-polymer blends and polymer matrix composites. Important results have been published for many homopolymers (see, for example, McKenna (1994a, 1994b), Hutchinson ...

Study of the gamma irradiation effects on the PMMA/HA and PMMA/SW

Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2010
Abstract The behavior of the poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) under the action of gamma radiation has been sufficiently studied. In this work, we present results from melt flow index (MFI), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) of PMMA composites with hydroxyapatite (HA ...

Osteomyelitis and Gentamicin-PMMA Chains

Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 2022
Abstract In chronic osteomyelitis, effective local antibiotic therapy after surgical debridement can be achieved by implantation of gentamicin-PMMA chains. The gentamicin concentrations at the site of infection are higher than that after systemic application of the same antibiotic.

Microdeformation mechanisms in rubber toughened PMMA and PMMA-based copolymers

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2006
The classical method of toughening polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is to incorporate composite rubber particles into the homopolymer matrix. This approach has been extended in the present work by (i) combining rubber toughening with chemical modification of the matrix or (ii) introduction of the rubber modifier via PMMA–b-polybutylacrylate (PBA)–b- PMMA ...

Effects of PMMA concentration on PMMA-based organic capacitor behavior

2012 10th IEEE International Conference on Semiconductor Electronics (ICSE), 2012
This paper reports the behavior of poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as insulator films. The PMMA concentrations were from 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 to 1.2 g. The electrical and dielectric properties results showed that PMMA concentration influenced the insulator behavior in the capacitor.

Crosslinking of PMMA Elastomer Block Copolymers Through PMMA Stereocomplexes

1992
It is known for some time that in suitable solvents, mixtures of syndiotactic and isotactic PMMA form stereocomplexes.1 The parameters that govern stereocom-plex formation have been extensively studied by Challa, 2 Spevacek3 and others and were recently reviewed by Spevacek.4 Stereocomplex formation is believed to involve the formation of a type of ...
