Targeted DNA demethylation of the Arabidopsis genome using the human TET1 catalytic domain. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
DNA methylation is an important epigenetic modification involved in gene regulation and transposable element silencing. Changes in DNA methylation can be heritable and, thus, can lead to the formation of stable epialleles. A well-characterized example of

Identification of Endophytic Bacterial Community Associated With Roots of Desert Vegetation

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Native plants thriving in extreme environments host unique microbial communities that might play crucial roles in promoting their growth and enhancing tolerance to harsh environmental conditions. In this study, the root‐associated microbial communities were analysed from ten desert native plant species.

关于复合外套MOA机械强度计算问题的研究

open access: yesGaoya dianqi, 2007

Current advances in molecular methods for detection of nitrite-dependent anaerobic methane oxidizing bacteria in natural environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Nitrite-dependent anaerobic methane oxidation (n-damo) process uniquely links microbial nitrogen and carbon cycles. Research on n-damo bacteria progresses quickly with experimental evidences through enrichment cultures.

Isoprene Production by Sphagnum Moss Is Balanced by Microbial Uptake, as Revealed by Selective Inhibitors

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2025.
Sphagnum moss, typical of northern peatlands, produces a range of volatile organic compounds, principally the climate‐active compound, isoprene, which serves as a carbon source for specialist isoprene‐consuming microbes. Using an inhibitor of microbial isoprene uptake, we quantify gross isoprene production by the moss and show that the vast majority of

Methanotrophs from natural ecosystems as biocontrol agents for ruminant methane emissions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In ruminant cattle, the anaerobic fermentation of ingested plant biomass results in the production of methane (CH4). This CH4 is subsequently eructated to the environment, where it acts as a potent greenhouse gas and is one of the leading sources of ...

Environmental Gradients and Conservation Status Determine the Structure and Carbon‐Related Metabolic Potential of the Prokaryotic Communities of Mediterranean Inland Saline Shallow Lakes

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2025.
Mediterranean inland saline shallow lakes are divided into different categories according to their salinity and conservation status, which determine the structuration of the prokaryotic communities and their carbon‐related metabolisms. ABSTRACT Mediterranean inland saline lakes may play an important role in the carbon cycle due to the metabolic ...

Patterns and geographical drivers for the abundance of CO2-assimilating bacteria, methanotrophs and CO-oxidizing bacteria in agricultural soils across eastern China

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture
Microorganisms carrying cbbL, pmoA and coxL genes play crucial roles in regulating soil-atmosphere exchanges of carbon trace gases (CO2, CH4, and CO). However, the geographical distribution patterns of these functional genes in agricultural ecosystems ...

Differentiated Mechanisms of Biochar Mitigating Straw-Induced Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Two Contrasting Paddy Soils

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Straw returns to the soil is an effective way to improve soil organic carbon and reduce air pollution by straw burning, but this may increase CH4 and N2O emissions risks in paddy soils.

Probe Capture Enrichment Sequencing of amoA Genes Improves the Detection of Diverse Ammonia‐Oxidising Archaeal and Bacterial Populations

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 25, Issue 3, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The ammonia monooxygenase subunit A (amoA) gene has been used to investigate the phylogenetic diversity, spatial distribution and activity of ammonia‐oxidising archaeal (AOA) and bacterial (AOB), which contribute significantly to the nitrogen cycle in various ecosystems. Amplicon sequencing of amoA is a widely used method; however, it produces
