Parametric Identification of PMSM Mathematical Model

2019 24th International Conference on Methods and Models in Automation and Robotics (MMAR), 2019
The problems of mathematical modelling and parameter identification of PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) mathematical model were analysed. The numerical Box's method of static optimisation was applied in offline parametric identification. Parameters of the mathematical models were determined according to minimisation of the mean-square error of

Accurate Torque Ripple Measurement for PMSM

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2011
Torque ripple in permanent-magnet synchronous motors is generally undesirable. Significant work has been done to minimize this torque, either by modifying the mechanical motor design or by careful controller design. Surprisingly, however, little work has been published on the accuracy of torque ripple measurement.

A sensorless passivity-based control for PMSM

2018 International Conference on Electronics, Communications and Computers (CONIELECOMP), 2018
This paper presents a sensorless controller design to speed tracking problem for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). The technique of passivity requires knowing the load torque, this is estimated with a reduced-order extended state observer, a traditional reduced-order observer and an online algebraic estimator.

General Formulation of PMSMs

2018
As an energy-converting system, a permanent magnet spherical motor (PMSM) can be characterized as a combination of two subsystems; an electromagnetic system and a rotor dynamic system. The analytical models presented here include the equations governing the magnetic field, energy and force/torque of a PMSM, and the equations of motion describing the ...

Direct Tuning Strategy for PMSM Drives

2008 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2008
This paper deals with a numerical method for Proportional Integral (PI) controllers design for Permanent Magnets Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drives. The design procedure is based on the manipulation of the system transfer functions to achieve a closed form representation for the parameters of the speed, torque and flux PI controllers.

Comparison of Radial Flux PMSM and Axial Flux PMSM for Hybrid Electric Tracked Vehicles

2021
Permanent magnet synchronous motors are increasingly becoming predominant with the upscale competitiveness of high-power permanent magnets. Permanent magnets are comparatively more efficient because the field excitation losses are extinguished that leads to significant rotor loss minimization. Thus, the motor efficiency is greatly surpassed, and higher

Measurement-based nonlinear modeling of PMSMs

IECON 2015 - 41st Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2015
This article is about measurement-based modeling of PMSMs. Typically, these machine designs feature nonlinear characteristics regarding the stator phase currents and show rotor angle dependent behavior. Thus, non-sinusoidal linked fluxes as well as higher torque harmonics occur.

Flux-based control of PMSM

2010 12th International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment, 2010
With increasing performance of magnet material and decreasing cost permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) become more and more important for practical use in light railway and e-car applications. Excellent torque dynamics are extremely important in these applications - not because of acceleration or deceleration, but to meet additional demands as

VHFIM sensorless control of PMSM

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2010
The paper deals with combined real-time model of PM synchronous motor for sensorless position control. Real-parametric-and real-time model could be ideal tools for both control and simulation of the PMSM position drive. Unfortunately that idealized model doesn't exist so far.

Control algorithms for a fault-tolerant PMSM drive

31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. IECON 2005., 2005
This paper proposes control algorithms for a fault-tolerant permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive. In order to improve the reliability of the drive, an algorithm for achieving a sensorless control that operates properly also in fault mode is proposed.
