Evidence for pleural epithelial-mesenchymal transition in murine compensatory lung growth.
In many mammals, including rodents and humans, removal of one lung results in the compensatory growth of the remaining lung; however, the mechanism of compensatory lung growth is unknown.

Pneumonectomy due to bronchus carcinoma after pleural empyema [PDF]
Pneumonectomy is a lung resection that is associated with significantly higher operative mortality and morbidity than lobectomy. Beside classical causes of operative morbidity, such as respiratory and cardiovascular, the most important cause of ...

A pneumonectomy model to study flow-induced pulmonary hypertension and compensatory lung growth
Summary: In newborns, developmental disorders such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) and specific types of congenital heart disease (CHD) can lead to defective alveolarization, pulmonary hypoplasia, and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH ...

Abstract INTRODUCTION Disturbed sleep patterns are common in dementia but have not been objectively quantified over long periods. METHODS We compared a cohort of 83 Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients to 13,588 individuals from the general population. Sleep patterns, heart rate, and breathing rate data were acquired using a zero‐burden contactless, under‐

Single-Cell Transcriptional Profiling of Cells Derived From Regenerating Alveolar Ducts
Lung regeneration occurs in a variety of adult mammals after surgical removal of one lung (pneumonectomy). Previous studies of murine post-pneumonectomy lung growth have identified regenerative “hotspots” in subpleural alveolar ducts; however, the cell ...

ABSTRACT In the treatment of bronchopleural fistulas, it is necessary to consider bronchoscopic intervention and surgery depending on the patient's condition and fistula size. Submucosal injection and spreading of fibrin glue under bronchoscopy may be useful methods for the closure of small, pinhole‐like fistulas that are several millimeters in size.

Tension chylothorax following pneumonectomy
Post-pneumonectomy chylothorax is an uncommon complication following surgery, with an estimated incidence of less than 0.7%. Post-pneumonectomy tension chylothorax, where rapid accumulation of chyle in the post-pneumonectomy space results in hemodynamic ...
