Single-Cell Transcriptional Profiling of Cells Derived From Regenerating Alveolar Ducts
Lung regeneration occurs in a variety of adult mammals after surgical removal of one lung (pneumonectomy). Previous studies of murine post-pneumonectomy lung growth have identified regenerative “hotspots” in subpleural alveolar ducts; however, the cell ...

ABSTRACT Introduction Unlike most malignancies, increased adiposity, as expressed by a higher body mass index (BMI), is associated with improved prognosis after lung cancer surgery at the population level. Height, one of the determinants of BMI, is associated with better survival, independent of other confounders, even though BMI is calculated as ...

Tension chylothorax following pneumonectomy
Post-pneumonectomy chylothorax is an uncommon complication following surgery, with an estimated incidence of less than 0.7%. Post-pneumonectomy tension chylothorax, where rapid accumulation of chyle in the post-pneumonectomy space results in hemodynamic ...

Neoadjuvant Four-Drug Combination Therapy for NSCLC With EGFR Mutation Avoiding Total Pneumonectomy
We report a case of successful neoadjuvant four-drug combination therapy to avoid total pneumonectomy. A 33-year-old male patient was diagnosed with locally advanced non-squamous NSCLC harboring EGFR mutation in the left lower lobe.

Pneumonectomy in pulmonary metastasis [PDF]
The risk of complication following pneumonectomy is high; therefore, the decision to perform pneumonectomy should be carefully evaluated. A retrospective multicenter study of patients with metastatic lung tumors who underwent pneumonectomy was conducted. The database from the Metastatic Lung Tumor Study Group of Japan was retrospectively reviewed ...

We report a case of pulmonary artery pseudoaneurysm (PAA) in a 74‐year‐old man presenting with severe respiratory failure and haemoptysis with a history of advanced lung cancer. Though the intent was to manage the PAA with coil embolisation, this was unsuccessful and the patient passed away 72 h after hospital admission.

Objective: Pneumonectomy is infrequently selected for lung resections due to the high rate of postoperative complications. Thus, identifying risk factors for complications and predicting potential prognostic factors in patients undergoing pneumonectomy ...

Background Mortality risk prediction in patients undergoing pneumonectomy for non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains imperfect. Here, we aimed to assess whether sarcopenia on routine chest computed tomography (CT) independently predicts worse cancer ...

High‐risk cardiac patients may benefit from timely temporary mechanical circulatory support (tMCS) implantation to provide perioperative hemodynamic stabilization and circulatory support, thus enabling them to undergo life‐saving thoracic surgery. CPB: cardiopulmonary bypass; IABP: intra‐aortic balloon pump; tMCS: temporary mechanical circulatory ...
