Pathogenic variants in chromatin‐related genes: Linking immune dysregulation to neuroregression and acute neuropsychiatric disorders

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
Chromatin machinery influences how DNA is ‘wrapped’ around histones in the nucleosome of immune and brain cells. Plain language summary: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/dmcn.16299 Abstract We report eight children with de novo pathogenic DNA variants in chromatin‐related genes: MORC2, CHD7, KANSL1, KMT2D, ZMYND11, HIST1HIE, EP300, and KMT2B.

Wheeze and Mycoplasma Pneumoniae [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Society of Medicine, 2002
There is increasing interest in whether the atypical organisms Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydia pneumoniae can cause exacerbations of asthma1,2. I describe four previously fit non-asthmatic patients who developed severe wheeze and airways obstruction in association with M. pneumoniae and who made a full recovery.

Pneumonia Detection in Chest X-Ray Images : Handling Class Imbalance [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
People all over the globe are affected by pneumonia but deaths due to it are highest in Sub-Saharan Asia and South Asia. In recent years, the overall incidence and mortality rate of pneumonia regardless of the utilization of effective vaccines and compelling antibiotics has escalated.

Role of Chlamydia pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae as Causative Agents of Community-Acquired Pneumonia in Hospitalised Children and Adolescents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The aim of the study presented here was to determine the prevalence of Chlamydia pneumoniae versus Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections in paediatric patients with community-acquired pneumonia.

Mycoplasma‐Induced Rash and Mucositis: Ocular Manifestations, Treatment and Outcomes in a Paediatric Population

open access: yesJournal of Paediatrics and Child Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background There has been an increase in Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections. This can present with extra‐pulmonary manifestations including mycoplasma‐induced rash and mucositis (MIRM). This paper aims to describe the ocular features in MIRM at a paediatric tertiary referral hospital in Queensland, Australia, and review the treatment and ...

A study of prevalence of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia and validation of Immunoglobulin M for Mycoplasma pneumoniae in the diagnosis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia

open access: yesIndian Journal of Child Health, 2016
Background: Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) is one of the most common causes of childhood community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and common cause of mortality and morbidity in young children. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is promising with higher specificity and superior sensitivity to that of culture or single point serology. Objective: This study

Pharmacokinetic–Pharmacodynamic Cutoff Values for Doxycycline in Pigs to Support the Establishment of Clinical Breakpoints for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This meta‐analysis provides a population model of doxycycline (DOXY) disposition in pigs for computation of PK/PD cutoff values corresponding to differing modalities of DOXY administration orally in pigs. This analysis enables establishment of specific clinical breakpoints for the development of antimicrobial susceptibility testing of DOXY in ...

The influence of risk perception on protective behaviours: The moderating role of cultural tightness–looseness

open access: yesAsian Journal of Social Psychology, Volume 28, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract Previous studies have indicated that risk perception influences individuals' willingness to engage in protective behaviours; however, the relationship between these two factors remains unclear. This study investigates whether Cultural Tightness–Looseness moderates this relationship. We employed Mixed‐Effects Models analysis on data from 29,456

Mycoplasma pneumoniae in women

open access: yesPrimary Care Update for OB/GYNS, 2000
Mycoplasma pneumoniae (primary atypical or Eatons' agent) is a common cause of walking or atypical pneumonia in young adults. It is responsible for approximately 43% of the cases of community-acquired pneumonia in patients between the ages of 17 and 44. Patients with Mycoplasma pneumonia typically present with the gradual onset of a nonproductive cough,
