Tetrastigma Hemsleyanum Polysaccharide Suppresses Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer by Disrupting the Hippo‐YAP/TEAD4‐PDIA4 Axis and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) exhibits addiction to chronic endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, which sustains an aggressive metastatic phenotype through activation of the unfolded protein response (UPR). Here, we identify a previously unrecognized “ER‐stress addiction” axis in which the Hippo pathway effector TEAD4 directly ...

Microbiological etiologies of pneumonia complicating stroke: A systematic review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background and Purpose—Identifying the causal pathogens of pneumonia complicating stroke is challenging, and antibiotics used are often broad spectrum, without recourse to the microbiological cause.

Enzymatic DNA Reaction Networks for Orchestrating Stimuli‐Dependent Temporal Molecular Pulse

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present an enzymatic DNA reaction network (EDRN) that encodes nucleic‐acid targets in time, converting inputs into a universal strand and then into programmable transient fluorescence pulses. With time‐color multiplexing, EDRN enables single‐tube high‐plex nucleic acid detection and shows strong agreement with clinical sequencing across 32 specimens.

Accuracy of the recording of pneumonia events in English electronic healthcare record data in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [PDF]

open access: yes
Background In primary care, identifying pneumonia events in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) may be challenging due to similarities in symptoms with COPD exacerbations and lack of diagnostic testing.

Risk factors for childhood pneumonia at Adama Hospital Medical College, Adama, Ethiopia: a case-control study

open access: yesPneumonia, 2022
Background Pneumonia is an acute respiratory infection of the lungs. A child dies of pneumonia every 39 s globally. Even though pneumonia affects children worldwide, the risk and repercussions of the disease are more prevalent in poor and middle-income ...

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Community-acquired pneumonia in the United Kingdom: a call to action

open access: yesPneumonia, 2017
Pneumococcal disease has a high burden in adults in the United Kingdom (UK); however, the total burden is underestimated, principally because most cases of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) are non-invasive. Research into pneumonia receives poor funding

Mutational analysis of the gene start sequences of pneumonia virus of mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The transcriptional start sequence of pneumonia virus of mice is more variable than that of the other pneumoviruses, with five different nine-base gene start (GS) sequences found in the PVM genome.
