Pneumatosis intestinalis and pneumoperitoneum secondary to Sapovirus colitis

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2019
Pneumatosis intestinalis (PI) with pneumoperitoneum are radiographic findings that may be associated with severe bowel compromise. Asymptomatic patients with benign pneumoperitoneum are well described and can typically be observed.

Radiographer Preliminary Image Evaluation Accuracy in Interpreting Paediatric Trauma Radiographs

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
Radiographer preliminary image evaluation (PIE) is a patient safety mechanism where radiographers provide a written comment describing potential pathology in radiographs they have acquired. This can assist emergency referrers in making a diagnosis when a radiologist's report is unavailable.

Effects of long periods of pneumoperitoneum combined with the head-up position on heart rate-corrected QT interval during robotic gastrectomy: an observational study

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2018
Objective Pneumoperitoneum and the head-up position reportedly stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, potentially increasing the risk of cardiac arrhythmia. We evaluated the effects of a long duration of pneumoperitoneum in the head-up position on the

Intraoperative changes in whole-blood viscosity in patients undergoing robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy in the steep Trendelenburg position with pneumoperitoneum: a prospective nonrandomized observational cohort study

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2020
Background The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the steep Trendelenburg position (STP) with pneumoperitoneum on whole-blood viscosity (WBV) in patients undergoing robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP). The study also analyzed

Effect of Magnesium Sulfate and Clonidine in Attenuating Hemodynamic Response to Pneumoperitoneum in Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

open access: yesAnesthesia Essays and Researches, 2017
Background: Pneumoperitoneum in laparoscopic procedures is associated with hemodynamic response, due to the release of catecholamines and vasopressin. Magnesium and clonidine have been used to attenuate such hemodynamic responses by inhibiting release of

National implementation of vaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery for benign hysterectomies: A historical cohort study of Swedish data 2021–2023

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
The implementation of vNOTES hysterectomy in Sweden shows low intra‐ and postoperative complication rates. The 1‐year follow‐up after surgery shows that 90% of the patients were satisfied or very satisfied with the result. vNOTES seems to be a safe method to introduce broadly in a national setting.
