Grafting of Temperature Sensitive PNIPAAm on Hydrophilised Polysulfone UF Membranes

open access: yesJournal of Membrane Science, 2008
Poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) (PNIPAAm) was grafted on a polysulfone UF membrane. The changes of permeability as well as retention of PEG (35 kg/mol) and Dextran (500 kg/mol) between 23 and 60 °C were determined for both grafted and unmodified membranes ...

Tailoring the LCST of PNIPAAM‐b‐PLA‐b‐PNIPAAM Triblock Copolymers via Stereocomplexation

Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 2013
Poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐block‐poly(l‐lactic acid)‐block‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM‐b‐PLLA‐b‐PNIPAAM) and PNIPAAM‐b‐PDLA‐b‐PNIPAAM triblock copolymers with varying polylactic acid (PLA) lengths are synthesized using a combination of ring‐opening polymerization and atom‐transfer radical polymerization.

Characterization of PNIPAAm Photografted on PET and PS Surfaces

Applied Surface Science, 2005
Abstract Aqueous solution of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), or PNIPAAm, possess lower critical solution temperature (LCST) around 32–33 °C. Below this temperature the PNIPAAm is hydrophilic and above presents hydrophobic characteristics. In this work, virgin or oxidized films of PET and PS were submitted to surface modification by grafting of PNIPAAm ...

Thermosensitive polymeric vesicles self-assembled by PNIPAAm-b-PPG-b-PNIPAAm triblock copolymers

Colloid and Polymer Science, 2004
PNIPAAm-b-PPG-b-PNIPAAm triblock copolymers were prepared by redox polymerization. The self-assembly behavior and thermosensitive property of the copolymers in water were studied using 1H-NMR, TEM and a UV spectrophotometer. The results showed that the LCST of the copolymers was 32 °C, which was consistent with that of pure PNIPAAm.

Salt Sensitivity of the Thermoresponsive Behavior of PNIPAAm Brushes

Langmuir, 2018
We report investigations on the salt sensitivity of the thermoresponsive behavior of PNIPAAm brushes applying the quartz crystal microbalance coupled with spectroscopic ellipsometry technique. This approach enables a detailed study of the optical and mechanical behavior of the polymer coatings.
