LCST Behavior of Symmetrical PNiPAm-b-PEtOx-b-PNiPAm Triblock Copolymers

Macromolecules, 2016
Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNiPAm) and poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (PEtOx) represent two polymer types that are well-known for their lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior in aqueous media. To synthesize triblock copolymers containing both polymers, a crossover of two different polymerization methods was applied using a bifunctional ...

Preparation and Properties of Cyclodextrin/PNIPAm Microgels

Macromolecular Bioscience, 2009
AbstractA two‐stage precipitation polymerization in aqueous solution was used to prepare β‐cyclodextrin/poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (β‐CD/PNIPAm) core–shell microgels. At the first stage, core microgels with CD moieties were synthesized by precipitation copolymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAm) with a monovinyl β‐CD monomer. At the second stage,

Adsorption of Oligonucleotides on PMMA/PNIPAM Core−Shell Latexes:  Polarity of the PNIPAM Shell Probed by Fluorescence

Langmuir, 2004
The adsorption of a rhodamine X labeled oligonucleotide composed of 25-mers of thymine (dT(25)-ROX) onto the thermosensitive shell of PMMA/PNIPAM core-shell latex particles was studied at 22 and 40 degrees C, below and above the T(VPT) (volume phase transition temperature) of the PNIPAM shell, respectively.

Colloidal Phase Separation of Concentrated PNIPAm Solutions

Langmuir, 2007
In the concentration range of 1-6 wt %, solutions of a thermosensitive polymer (poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (PNIPAm), Mw = 1.4 x 10(5) g.mol(-1)) are shown to phase separate in the form of dense stable colloids of nearly pure polymer. Diffuse wave spectroscopy and small-angle neutron scattering both provide consistent measurements of the colloidal size ...

Preparation of thermosensitive PNIPAM microcontainers and a versatile method to fabricate PNIPAM shell on particles with silica surface

Colloid and Polymer Science, 2012
Thermosensitive PNIPAM microcontainers were prepared by using silica particles as template. Silica particles were prepared by the Stober method and surface modified with linear P(NIPAM-co-MPS) chains. PNIPAM shell was then fabricated on the P(NIPAM-co-MPS)-modified silica particles through precipitation polymerization of NIPAM and MBA.

Mechanical properties of PNIPAM based hydrogels: A review

Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2017
Materials which adjust their properties in response to environmental factors such as temperature, pH and ionic strength are rapidly evolving and known as smart materials. Hydrogels formed by smart polymers have various applications. Among the smart polymers, thermoresponsive polymer poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM) is very important because of its ...

PNIPAM microgels in external fields

2018

PNIPAm-PEO-PPO-PEO-PNIPAm Pentablock Terpolymer: Synthesis and Chain Behavior in Aqueous Solution

Macromolecules, 2010
The double thermosensitive and narrow dispersed PNIPAm110-PEO100-PPO65-PEO100-PNIPAm110 pentablock terpolymer was synthesized by the typical atomic transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) method with N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAm) as the monomer and modified poly(ethylene oxide)100−poly(propylene oxide)65−poly(ethylene oxide)100 (PEO100-PPO65-PEO100 ...
