A profile of the potential flora in maize fields of the Po valley
Weed Research, 1992Summary: Résumé: ZusammenfassungQualitative and quantitative surveys (biological and ecophysiological spectrum, structural organization, seed bank size) of the potential flora (PF) in maize (Zea mays L.) fields of the Po Valley are reported. Data were collected from 45 sites and two sampling depths (0–20 cm and 21–40 cm).

Characterization of the precipitation in an urban area of the Po valley, Italy
Science of The Total Environment, 1988Rain samples from two stations equipped with both bulk and wet/dry samplers were collected weekly for a year, and analyzed according to standardized monitoring programs. Several correlations among ions were found: these findings, especially when compared with the corresponding wind-frequency distribution, emphasize differences in the chemical ...

Forecasting of Fumigation Episodes in the PO Valley
1981Air quality management in the Po Valley needs particular attention. It is the more densely populated region of Italy and there are various and complex pollution sources in the area. It experiences a complex climatology. Winds, which are induced by the surrounding Alps and Appennines, are generally weak and with large shears.

Characterization of a Local Aerosol on a Rural Site of the PO Valley
Science of The Total Environment, 1982Abstract A site was chosen in the Po Valley (Northern Italy) that could be considered representative of the whole eastern part of the Valley. High volume aerosol samples were collected during periods characterized by weak pressure gradients over the region, so that any influence by external sources, over the aerosol composition, could be reasonably ...

A Wind-Speed Anomaly in the Surface Layer in the Po Valley
Boundary-Layer Meteorology, 1979A wind anomaly, consisting of a relative minimum in speed at a height of 100 m, in a direction opposite to that of the local flows, has been observed on the meteorological tower of Trino Vercellese, at the western extremity of the Po Valley. An interpretation in terms of a thermal wind, due to an horizontal thermal gradient induced by sloping terrain ...

Heterogeneous processes in the Po Valley radiation fog
Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, 1988The heterogeneous processes responsible for fog water chemical composition are examined in this paper. SO2/SO4= and NOx/HNO3/NO3− systems have been particularly investigated for their role in the production of acidity within the dispersed liquid phase.

Atmospheric-dispersion parameter evaluation in the Po Valley
Il Nuovo Cimento C, 1980Comparison of turbulent-diffusion parametersσ v andσ z, evaluated through different experimental tests carried out in the Po Valley in the range (102÷104) m downwind the source, under neutral and unstable conditions, is presented and discussed. Two kinds of methods of tracer dispersion were adopted.

Summer daily circulation in the Po Valley, Italy
Geophysical & Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics, 1981Abstract Surface wind data from a network of stations located in the Po Valley, Italy, have been analysed in order to investigate the features of the local circulation during summer, under synoptic conditions of weak pressure gradients. The up-valley wind appears to be closely coupled with the sea-land breeze in the eastern part of the valley.
