Enhanced toxicity of aerosol in fog conditions in the Po Valley, Italy [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2017
While numerous studies have demonstrated the association between outdoor exposure to atmospheric particulate matter (PM) and adverse health effects, the actual chemical species responsible for PM toxicological properties remain a subject of ...

Systems of Power: A Spatial Envirotechnical Approach to Water Power and Industrialization in the Po Valley of Italy ca. 1880-1970

open access: yes, 2018
International audienceFossil fuels, more than water, are immediately associated with the industrial energy transition. Preindustrial energy sources, however, continued to play a role in industrial energy regimes.

Meteorological characteristics of the Po Valley fog

open access: yesTellus B: Chemical and Physical Meteorology, 1992
The meteorological situation during the first joint field campaign from 10-17 November 1989 of the EUROTRAC subproject GCE is discussed. The synoptic situation is illustrated by weather charts and satellite pictures. Backtrajectories were calculated in order to identify the origins of airmasses reaching the observation point.

Charting the Flow: Water Science and State Hydrography in the Po Watershed, 1872-1917

open access: yes, 2017
Environmental history literature has acknowledged the role of hydrological knowledge in remaking rivers and water systems. The production of such knowledge, however, has thus far remained in the shadows, along with the human–environment interplay that ...

Application of MAIAC high spatial resolution aerosol retrievals over Po Valley (Italy)

open access: yes, 2013
The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) data retrieved at 0:55 μm with spatial resolutions of 10 km and 1 km AOD have been considered in this work.

Paysages transalpins : la vallée du Pô et les enjeux de l’écriture paysagère dans les Géographies Universelles (1810-1934)

open access: yesProjets de Paysage, 2010
The first three Universal Geographies by Malte Brun (1810-1829), Elisée Reclus (1876-1894) and Paul Vidal de la Blache’s fellows (1927-1947) are the great and well-known representations of the contemporary world produced by French geography between the ...

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Modeling the effect of the energy crisis on air quality in the Po Valley, Italy.

open access: yes, 2023
This thesis investigates the impact of the energy crisis on air quality in the Po Valley, Italy, with a focus on the effect of changes in methane consumption over the potential changes in wood burning consumption.

Interaction of Intraprocedural Antiplatelets and Intravenous Thrombolysis in Acute Intracranial Stenting: RESISTANT Registry Subanalysis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Objective Acute intracranial stenting during endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for ischemic stroke requires intraprocedural antiplatelet therapy (APT) to maintain patency. However, the hemorrhagic risk of combining APT with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) remains uncertain.

Characteristics of brown carbon in the urban Po Valley atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2017
We investigate optical–microphysical–chemical properties of brown carbon (BrC) in the urban ambient atmosphere of the Po Valley. In situ ground measurements of aerosol spectral optical properties, PM1 chemical composition (HR-ToF-AMS), and particle size ...
