Multifunctionality of annual forage crop mixtures for improved biomass, beef cattle diets, and soil health outcomes

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Cover crop mixtures (CCMs) can fit well into various agricultural production systems and have gained popularity among grain and livestock producers, as well as organic and market gardeners across western Canada, due to their potential to enhance forage production and soil health.

Arbuscular mycorrhizae fungi diversity and population as affected by watershed management practices at Kara Soditti Watershed, Wenago district, Southern Ethiopia

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Land degradation is among a serious ecological problem that results in decreased land productivity, including soil nutrients and microbiota. Soil and water conservation (SWC) practices such as micro‐basin, Fanyaa juu, and soil bund construction are widely implemented to combat this degradation by reducing erosion and retaining water at Kara ...

Wild Seasons, Urban Stasis: Anthropogenic Food Subsidies Buffer Seasonal Dietary Shifts for Coyotes (Canis latrans) in a Wildland‐Urban Landscape South of Mexico City

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Coyote populations are expanding into urban areas, and this study examines how their diet adapts along a gradient from conserved to human‐modified habitats. Mammals dominated the diet at both sites, and there was no significant difference in annual dietary diversity between the conserved and modified areas.

Cultivated Vegetation Shapes Diversity and Stability of Spontaneous Herbaceous Communities in Residential Green Spaces

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Cultivated vegetation shapes the diversity and stability of spontaneous herbaceous communities in residential green spaces, with effects varying across vegetation types. Spontaneous communities were dominated by occasional species, and community stability and dissimilarity were more closely associated with species frequency structure than with overall ...
