Influence of synthetic chelators and LMWOAs on the yield and quality attributes of Panicum maximum Jacq. (Poales: Poaceae) in chromium phytoextraction

open access: yesJournal of Applied Biology & Biotechnology
Phytoextraction is a cost-effective technology for contaminated site remediation. The study was carried out to investigate the potential of Panicum maximum (Jacq.) to remediate Cr-contaminated soil in tannery industries.

The Role of Plant Evolutionary History in Shaping the Variation in Specific Leaf Area Across China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2025.
In this study, we analyzed the influences of climatic conditions and soil properties on the specific leaf area (SLA), calculated the phylogenetic signals of SLA, and quantified the relative contributions of evolutionary history to the spatial variation in SLA. We underscored the importance of evolutionary history in shaping the spatial variation of SLA

The complete chloroplast genome of Sparganium fallax (Typhaceae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2021
Sparganium fallax is an aquatic perennial herb distributed in eastern Asia. The complete chloroplast genome of S. fallax was sequenced and assembled. The genome size was 161,838 bp in length with 36.8% GC content. Its quadripartite structure consisted of

Diversification of myco-heterotrophic angiosperms: evidence from Burmanniaceae. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background - Myco-heterotrophy evolved independently several times during angiosperm evolution. Although many species of myco-heterotrophic plants are highly endemic and long-distance dispersal seems unlikely, some genera are widely dispersed and have ...

Leaf and inflorescence axis anatomy of Brazilian species of Rapateoideae (Rapateaceae, Poales) [PDF]

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2015
The anatomy of leaves and inflorescence axes of Spathanthus (2 spp.), Rapatea (2 spp.), Cephalostemon(1 sp.), and Duckea(1 sp.) (Rapateoideae, Rapateaceae) was studied to identify useful characters for taxonomy. The cross-section shape of inflorescence axis differentiates the genera, while the cross-section shape and structure of leaf midrib has a ...

The wheat NLR pair RXL/Pm5e confers resistance to powdery mildew

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 4, Page 1260-1276, April 2025.
Summary Powdery mildew poses a significant threat to global wheat production and most cloned and deployed resistance genes for wheat breeding encode nucleotide‐binding and leucine‐rich repeat (NLR) immune receptors. Although two genetically linked NLRs function together as an NLR pair have been reported in other species, this phenomenon has been ...

Genomic Resources for Asparagales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Enormous genomic resources have been developed for plants in the monocot order Poales; however, it is not known how useful these resources will be for other economically important monocots.

The Effect of Humidity and the Role of Visual Cues During Feeding on Green/Brown Color Polyphenism in Locusta migratoria

open access: yesArchives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, Volume 118, Issue 2, February 2025.
Green/brown polyphenism occurs in various insects including Locusta migratoria. Our study revealed that higher humidity induced more green morphs under a 16‐h dark/8‐h light cycle. Furthermore, the daily overlap between food availability and light periods affected the expression of green/brown polyphenism in this species.

Occurrence and evolutionary inferences about Kranz anatomy in Cyperaceae (Poales) [PDF]

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2015
ABSTRACT Cyperaceae is an angiosperm family with the greatest diversity of species with Kranz anatomy. Four different types of Kranz anatomy (chlorocyperoid, eleocharoid, fimbristyloid and rhynchosporoid) have been described for this angiosperm family, and the occurrence and structural characteristics of these types are important to trace evolutionary ...
