Is There a Key Primer for Amplification of Core Land Plant DNA Barcode Regions (rbcL and matK)?
We use in silico PCR to select and measure the amplification capability of primer. We tested 366 and 489 published primers for the rbcL and matK regions, respectively, using sequences from 8463 different land plant species. Our results indicate a set of primers that effectively cover all land plant sequences, particularly for the rbcL region.

Alkaloid profile of Italian alpine milk
Abstract This study examines the alkaloid profiles in alpine milk. Alkaloids could pose a health concern but also prove interesting from a geographic traceability perspective. Over three consecutive days, 48 daily milk samples were collected from 16 lactating cows grazing on two alpine pastures in Northeast Italy, with 8 cows from each pasture ...

Glycomolecules: from “sweet immunity” to “sweet biostimulation”?
Abstract Climate changes and environmental contaminants are daunting challenges that require an urgent change from current agricultural practices to sustainable agriculture. Biostimulants are natural solutions that adhere to the principles of organic farming and are believed to have low impacts on the environment and human health.

SUMMARY Cytochrome P450 monooxygenases of the CYP79 family catalyze conversion of specific amino acids into oximes feeding into a variety of metabolic plant pathways. Here we present an extensive phylogenetic tree of the CYP79 family built on carefully curated sequences collected across the entire plant kingdom.

Genomic analysis of NAC transcription factors in banana (Musa acuminata) and definition of NAC orthologous groups for monocots and dicots [PDF]
Identifying the molecular mechanisms underlying tolerance to abiotic stresses is important in crop breeding. A comprehensive understanding of the gene families associated with drought tolerance is therefore highly relevant. NAC transcription factors form

Floral organogenesis and vasculature in Mayacaceae, an enigmatic family of Poales
Mayacaceae are a small and monogeneric aquatic family including 4–6 species and with an unstable phylogenetic position within Poales. Therefore, the floral development and vasculature were studied in Mayaca fluviatilis and Mayaca sellowiana to better understand interfamilial relationships. In both species, the floral vascular system is organized in six
