Aedes aegypti mosquitoes exhibit decreased repellency by DEET following previous exposure. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
DEET (N,N-Diethyl-m-toluamide) is one of the most widely used mosquito repellents. Although DEET has been shown to be extremely effective, recent studies have revealed that certain individual insects are unaffected by its presence.

Population Dynamics and Damage by Pod-Sucking Bugs under Integrated Pest Management Strategies in Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp.) in the Sudan Savanna of Nigeria

open access: yesUMYU Scientifica Journal
Insect pests remain a major production bottleneck, particularly those that infest the crop during the post-flowering stage. Pod-sucking bug complexes can inflict severe damage on cowpea productivity if unchecked.

Effects of adjustable‐volume transfemoral prosthetic sockets on balance and falls: A randomized clinical trial

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Adjustable‐volume prosthetic sockets have been developed to allow users to accommodate volume fluctuations throughout the day. Improvement in socket fit is thought to enhance the connection between the user's residual limb and prosthesis and may therefore improve postural control and balance.

Target‐site mutations and phenotypic failure in Myzus persicae against pyrethroids and carbamates in central Europe

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Molecular screening of 140 field‐collected Myzus persicae aphids revealed target‐site mutations L1014F, M918L, M918T, and L932F in the sodium channel and S431F in Ace2. The M918L mutation was the primary driver of high pyrethroid (cypermethrin) resistance, while S431F served as a definitive marker for carbamate (pirimicarb) resistance.

Pesticide use in integrated pest and pollinator management framework to protect pollinator health

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1691-1696, April 2025.
Integrated pest management (IPM) emphasizes non‐chemical methods, with pesticides as a last resort, while integrated pest and pollinator management (IPPM) integrates pollinator health into pest control strategies. Abstract Agricultural pesticides have historically been a critical tool in controlling pests and diseases, preventing widespread suffering ...

An Attribute Selection For Severity Level Determination According To The Support Vector Machine Classification Result [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Determination of bug severity level is needed in fixing bug. Actually, in bug-tracking system, there is around 14 attributes used for defining a bug. But, all this time we do not know which attributes are highly influential for this. In this research, a

Intraspecific variability rivals interspecific differences in root traits of temperate tree seedlings

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Global change and associated disturbances are increasing the risk of regeneration failure for tree species in temperate forests. Seedlings are particularly vulnerable to water stress due to their shallow root systems, making below‐ground plasticity a potentially key ...
