Hiroshima studies in language and language education, 2013 ポッドキャストは,語学学習者が場所や時間をえらばず学習用に作成されたコンテンツを簡単にダウンロードしそして持ち歩けるという,低コストで学習上有効なテクノロジーである。スマートフォン等の多機能携帯端末を所持する学生数が増加している背景もあり,大学は教育用のポッドキャストを利用する場として最適な環境であると言える。本稿は,広島大学外国語教育研究センターで作成・配信されているEnglish News Weeklyに焦点をあてる。このポッドキャストは,2012年4月より無料でダウンロード可能であり,最新の重要な時事ニュースをとりあげ毎週更新されているものである。また,ポッドキャストの内容とともに,広島大学の234名の学生を対象に行われた調査の結果についても考察する。
