Cuticle Micromorphology of Podocarpus, Subgenus Podocarpus, Section Scytopodium (Podocarpaceae) of Madagascar and South Africa.

open access: yes, 1998
Cuticle micromorphology of leaves from seven species and three varieties of the conifer genus Podocarpus subgenus Podocarpus section Scytopodium from South Africa and Madagascar was studied with scanning electron microscopy. External and internal features of abaxial and adaxial cuticles are characterized for all taxa and are compared with other known ...

Terpenes of Podocarpus lambertius

Phytochemistry, 1975
Abstract Sitosterol and the following terpenic compounds have been isolated from the bark of Podocarpus lambertius: 3β-hydroxytotarol, 4β-carboxynortotarol, and macrophyllic and lambertic acids. The leaves yielded sitosterol, stigmastan-3β,5α-diol-6-one, isopimaric acid, phyllocladene, isophyllocladene, 8,9-abieten-15-ol and 17-isophyllocladenol.

Chemical Differentiation of the Genera Podocarpus and Dacrydium

Nature, 1952
THERE are numerous instances where a genus or other group of plants is characterized by particular chemical constituents. In the Eucalypts, for example, chemical evidence has been of value in some instances in determining specific differences, while in Pinus, Erdtman and co-workers1 have recently shown the presence of a characteristic pattern of ...

Root Nodules of Podocarpus

Ecology, 1932
Recently Saxton ('30) in a interesting paper outlined the principal features of an investigation into the organisms present in the root nodules of Podocarpus latifolius R. Br. (P. Thunbergii Hook).' It seems that absence of bacteria and the presence of endotrophic fungal hyphae, or mycorhiza, were established from investigation of histological ...

Biflavones from the genus Podocarpus

Phytochemistry, 1987
Abstract A new biflavonoid, podocarpusflavanone, has been isolated from Podocarpus taxifolia and identified by chemical and spectral data as I-4′,I-5,II-5-trihydroxy-II-4′,I-7,II-7-trimethoxy-I-2,3-dihydro-[I-3′,II-8]biflavone along with other biflavonoids. The distribution of biflavonyl pigments in eight Podocarpus species is outlined.
