Glutathione and abscisic acid supplementation influences somatic embryo maturation and hormone endogenous levels during somatic embryogenesis in Podocarpus lambertii Klotzsch ex Endl. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Science, 2016
Here we propose a protocol for embryogenic cultures induction, proliferation and maturation for the Brazilian conifer Podocarpus lambertii, and investigated the effect of abscisic acid (ABA) and glutathione (GSH) supplementation on the maturation phase. ABA, zeatin (Z) and salicylic acid (SA) endogenous levels were quantified. Number of somatic embryos

Phylogeny and divergence times of the African and Malagasy Podocarpus (Podocarpaceae) and their taxonomic and biogeographic implications

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 74, Issue 6, Page 1335-1350, December 2025.
Abstract Podocarpus is the most speciose genus of the podocarp family (Podocarpaceae) widely distributed in the mountain forests of subtropical and tropical Asia, the Neotropics and Australasia, where its members have been shown to have had multiple origins.

Distribution of Functional Traits Along Climatic Gradients in the Subtropical Atlantic Forest

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 11, November 2025.
We assessed the correlation between climatic factors and altitude with the spatial distribution of tree functional traits in the Subtropical Atlantic Forest. Deciduousness, symbiotic fixation of nitrogen (SNF), toothed leaf, spinescence and leaf area were more significantly associated with climatic drivers.

Tall stature and small leaves: ecological strategies that enhance tree growth across the subtropical Brazilian Atlantic Forest

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2025, Issue 8, August 2025.
Ecological strategies reflect the mechanisms used for species to sustain a population. Predicting plant growth in ecological communities is crucial, especially with climate change impacting ecosystem functioning. By employing a large dataset for the subtropical Brazilian Atlantic Forest (BAF), we evaluated whether species' relative growth rates (RGR ...

The southern Brazilian tropical forest during the penultimate Pleistocene glaciation and its termination

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 373-385, April 2024.
ABSTRACT To describe the composition of the penultimate glacial Brazilian Atlantic forest, we analyzed pollen, charcoal and diatoms deposited in the section from 871 to 1400 cm of core CO14 drilled in the Colônia basin in southeastern Brazil. The landscape was characterized by a cool grassland with three conifer genera: Araucaria, Podocarpus and ...
