Chemical Examination of Podophyllum emodi Wall. var. hexandrum (Royle)
Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1954Resin of Podophyllum emodi Wall. was isolated. It contains an essential oil responsible for its odor. The resin contains podophyllotoxin (32 per cent), picropodophytlin (0.33 per cent), and six per cent of the yellow coloring matter quercetin. The resin also contains traces of a phenolic compound other than quercetin.

Chromosome complement and nucleolar organization in Podophyllum hexandrum Royle
Genetica, 1990The karyomorphology of Podophyllum hexandrum Royle (2n=2x=12) is described for the first time. The haploid set comprises one metacentric, three sub-metacentric and two acrocentric chromosomes. Metacentrics are the longest and acrocentrics the smallest in the complement.

Molecular characterization and marker based chemotaxonomic studies of Podophyllum hexandrum Royle
Fitoterapia, 2010Detailed chemical studies and RAPD analysis were done in different populations of Podophyllum hexandrum collected from high altitude regions of North Western Himalayas. Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis revealed a high degree of genetic diversity among the 12 collected accessions, attributed to their geographical and climatic conditions.
