Impact of drainage and soil hydrology on sources and degradation of organic matter in tropical coastal podzols

Geoderma, 2018
In podzols important environmental issues converge, including dissolved organic matter (DOM) transport, DOM-metal binding, and carbon storage in the subsoil. Therefore, it is important to understand the formation and degradation of podzols in relation to

A NUMERICAL INDEX OF PODZOL AND PODZOLIC SOIL DEVELOPMENT

Physical Geography, 1988
A numerical index of soil development, the POD Index, was developed and applied to 723 pedons of United States soils that either exhibit, or are developing, Podzol (Spodosol) morphology. The index is determined solely from morphologic (field) criteria, and provides the first soil development index for Podzol and Podzol-like soils that does not use ...

Podzols in Amazonia

CATENA, 1990
Summary In the area near Manaus, Amazonia (Brazil), soil sequences including Oxisols, Ultisols and Spodosols (podzols) are widely distributed. Such toposequences occur on slopes leading down into valleys cut in a nearly level plateau. The geochemistry of the organic and mineral components of one of these sequences has been investigated.

Podzols in Zambia

Geoderma, 1973
Abstract A preliminary account is given of Podzols found extensively developed in well drained sands under a seasonal tropical climate in Zambia's Western Province.

Paramagnetic properties of humus acids of podzolic and bog-podzolic soils

Eurasian Soil Science, 2007
The contents of free radicals in preparations of humic and fulvic acids extracted from virgin and plowed podzolic, surface gleyic podzolic, and peaty podzolic-gleyic soils were determined. The concentration of paramagnetic centers in the humic acids was 1.5–2 times higher than that in the fulvic acids.

DEVELOPMENT OF HYDROMORPHIC HUMUS PODZOLS AND SOME NOTES ON THE CLASSIFICATION OF PODZOLS IN GENERAL

Journal of Soil Science, 1962
Summary Hydromorphic humus podzols can develop under submerged conditions as a result of internal water movement, and their development is by no means dependent on the occurrence of a water table which descends, periodically, below the B horizon.
