Temporally consistent species differences in parasite infection but no evidence for rapid parasite-mediated speciation in Lake Victoria cichlid fish. [PDF]
Species composition of Cichlidogyrus infection was similar among the closely related cichlid species of the Lake Victoria radiation (in orange), but differed between this lineage and two distantly related species (belonging to nonradiating sister lineages, in blue).

Naupliar Stages of Hemicyclops japonicus (Copepoda: Poecilostomatoida) Reared in the Laboratory [PDF]
ABSTRACT All 6 naupliar stages of Hemicyclops japonicus (Copepoda: Poecilostomatoida) are described on the basis of specimens reared in the laboratory. The appendages that are directly related to feeding, such as the coxa and basis of the second antenna and mandible, reach their final state of armature by the fourth naupliar stage.

Phylogeny within the Chondracanthidae (Poecilostomatoida, Copepoda) [PDF]
The existing systematics of the Chondracanthidae is based predominantly on female characters and divides them into two subfamilies: Chondracanthinae and Lernentominae. Phylogenetic analyses using maximum parsimony were performed using 186 male and female characters. Different trees were generated when male and female characters were analysed separately.

ABSTRACT Zooplankton analysis represents a bottleneck in marine ecology studies due to the difficulty to obtain zooplankton data. The last decades have seen the intense development of zooplankton imaging systems, to increase the zooplankton data spatio‐temporal resolution as well as enabling the combination of size, taxonomy, and functional traits in ...

Dwarfs or giants? Sexual size dimorphism in Chondracanthidae (Copepoda, Poecilostomatoida) [PDF]
Abstract in English: Sexual size dimorphism in the Chondracanthidae is very marked: whether it is a consequence of males being dwarfs or females becoming giants is investigated. Chondracanthid females are between two and 30 times larger than their conspecific males.

Brasergasilus guaporensis sp. n. (COPEPODA: ERGASILIDAE) DAS BRÂNQUIAS DE Leporinus fasciatus (BLOCH, 1890) (CHARACIFORMES: ANOSTOMIDAE) DA AMAZÔNIA BRASILEIRA [PDF]
Brasergasilus guaporensissp. n.

Evaluation of marine zooplankton community structure through environmental DNA metabarcoding. [PDF]
Abstract Zooplankton dominate the abundance and biomass of multicellular animals in pelagic marine environments; however, traditional methods to characterize zooplankton communities are invasive and laborious. This study compares zooplankton taxonomic composition revealed through metabarcoding of the cytochrome oxidase I (COI) and 18S rRNA genes to ...

Abstract The pelagic ecosystem of the Arctic Ocean is threatened by severe changes such as the reduction in sea‐ice coverage and increased inflow of warmer Atlantic water. The latter is already altering the zooplankton community, highlighting the need for monitoring studies.

A molecular‐based identification resource for the arthropods of Finland
Abstract To associate specimens identified by molecular characters to other biological knowledge, we need reference sequences annotated by Linnaean taxonomy. In this study, we (1) report the creation of a comprehensive reference library of DNA barcodes for the arthropods of an entire country (Finland), (2) publish this library, and (3) deliver a new ...
