On the classical-quantum correspondence for the scattering dwell time

open access: yes, 2004
Using results from the theory of dynamical systems, we derive a general expression for the classical average scattering dwell time, tau_av. Remarkably, tau_av depends only on a ratio of phase space volumes.

Computational Method for Phase Space Transport with Applications to Lobe Dynamics and Rate of Escape

open access: yes, 2017
Lobe dynamics and escape from a potential well are general frameworks introduced to study phase space transport in chaotic dynamical systems. While the former approach studies how regions of phase space are transported by reducing the flow to a two ...

Structural Invariance and the Energy Spectrum

open access: yes, 1999
We extend the application of the concept of structural invariance to bounded time independent systems. This concept, previously introduced by two of us to argue that the connection between random matrix theory and quantum systems with a chaotic classical

Morse theory, closed geodesics, and the homology of free loop spaces

open access: yes, 2014
This is a survey paper on Morse theory and the existence problem for closed geodesics. The free loop space plays a central role, since closed geodesics are critical points of the energy functional.

Birkhoff averages of Poincare cycles for Axiom-A diffeomorphisms

open access: yes, 2003
We study the time of $n$th return of orbits to some given (union of) rectangle(s) of a Markov partition of an Axiom A diffeomorphism. Namely, we prove the existence of a scaled generating function for these returns with respect to any Gibbs measure ...
