Mobile PCIS: Point-of-Care Information Systems with Portable Terminals

1998
We have developed a Point-of-Care Information System (PCIS) that uses portable terminals and supports the entire loop of daily nursing work for the first time. Nursing work includes a great deal of indirect nursing work, such as documenting patient information, conferring with other health-care providers, and so on, as well as direct patient care.

Successfully implementing a point-of-care system.

Computers in healthcare, 1988
To research this article, two hospitals were interviewed who recently installed a point-of-care system. They were asked, "Do the general criteria for HIS success apply to point-of-care systems, and if so, how specifically did they enter into your implementation efforts?"

Hospital saves with bedside point-of-care system.

Computers in healthcare, 1993
Do bedside and point-of-care systems actually deliver on their promise of reducing operating expenses while helping improve the overall quality of healthcare? And how does a healthcare facility quantify associated "productivity" improvements to prove cost savings? These are two critical issues that healthcare providers face in implementing a bedside or
