Behaviour of Gypsum Sheathed Point-symmetric Cold-formed Steel members: Assessment of AISI Design Method

, 2019
This paper presents suggestions for the efficient codification of the current American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) design specifications for “Sheathing Braced Design of Wall Studs.” The current design specifications of AISI is neither robust nor ...

Glide-Symmetric Holey Leaky-Wave Antenna With Low Dispersion for 60 GHz Point-to-Point Communications

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2020
In this article, two novel efficient leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) with stable radiation patterns operating in the 60 GHz band are proposed. The LWAs are implemented in groove-gap waveguide (GGW) technology. To mitigate the beam squint due to the dispersive

Point-symmetric signal extension for tile-based image compression

2000 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37100), 2002
A new method called point-symmetric signal extension is developed for finite-length signal sub-band decomposition providing perfect reconstruction. The proposed approach is considered as an alternative to the well-known symmetric signal extension in dealing with the boundary artifacts that manifest when tiles of images are lossy compressed.

A low complexity wavelet transform with point-symmetric extension at tile boundaries

Proceedings 2001 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.01CH37205), 2002
This paper presents a low-complexity wavelet transform that utilizes the point-symmetric extension at the image tile boundaries. The proposed solution preserves the perfect reconstruction property of the filter banks and deals efficiently with the blocking artifacts when images are lossy compressed. It is shown that the point-symmetric extension at the

Plastic Torsion Analysis of Monosymmetric and Point-Symmetric Beams

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1999
This paper extends a simple method of analyzing the plastic torsion collapse of compact equal flange I-section beams to monosymmetric and point-symmetric beams. The method can be used manually, is much easier than elastic analysis, and is no more difficult than the plastic collapse analysis of beams in bending.

Distances of Polars in Pointed Symmetric R-Spaces

2014
Polars in a pointed compact symmetric space are connected components of the fixed point set of the geodesic symmetry at the origin. They carry important information about the ambient symmetric space. In this note we show that the distances to the origin of two distinct polars in a pointed indecomposable symmetric R-space are different.

Bifurcation of locally buckled point symmetric columns—Experimental investigations

Thin-Walled Structures, 2006
Abstract The bifurcation equations for locally buckled point symmetric sections are derived in a companion paper [Rasmussen KJR. Bifurcation of locally buckled point symmetric columns—analytical developments. Thin-walled Struct, submitted for publication]. In the present paper, two series of experiments are reported, one on narrow flange Z -sections

Bifurcation of locally buckled point symmetric columns—Analytical developments

Thin-Walled Structures, 2006
Abstract The paper derives the differential equations for the overall bifurcation of locally buckled point-symmetric columns. It is shown that flexural buckling about the minor and major principal axes are coupled in a locally buckled point-symmetric column whereas the buckling modes are uncoupled in a non-locally buckled column.
