Temporal Estimation of Non-Rigid Dynamic Human Point Cloud Sequence Using 3D Skeleton-Based Deformation for Compression

open access: yesSensors, 2023
This paper proposes an algorithm for transmitting and reconstructing the estimated point cloud by temporally estimating a dynamic point cloud sequence. When a non-rigid 3D point cloud sequence (PCS) is input, the sequence is divided into groups of point ...

3DAC: Learning Attribute Compression for Point Clouds

open access: yes2022 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2022
We study the problem of attribute compression for large-scale unstructured 3D point clouds. Through an in-depth exploration of the relationships between different encoding steps and different attribute channels, we introduce a deep compression network, termed 3DAC, to explicitly compress the attributes of 3D point clouds and reduce storage usage in ...

What’s new in point cloud compression?

open access: yes, 2020
International audience3D point cloud is a simple data structure representing both static and dynamic 3D objects. Though providing close-to-reality visualization, point clouds with high density raise massive demand for storage while sparse point clouds ...

Visual Quality of Compressed Mesh and Point Cloud Sequences

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
With the development of immersive video, the delivery and storage of 3D content have become important research areas. While compression methods for meshes and point clouds, the two main representations for 3D content, are actively studied, there are few ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
