Differential geometry of a surface at a planar point [PDF]
We shall say that a point 0 of a surface S is a planar point of the third order if the surface has a tangent plane at 0 and if every curve on the surface through 0 has an inflexiont at 0. It is the purpose of this paper to study the surface S in the neighborhood of such a planar point from a projective point of view by making use of the osculantst of ...

On the pre-image of a point under an isogeny and Siegel's theorem
Consider a rational point on an elliptic curve under an isogeny. Suppose that the action of Galois partitions the set of its preimages into n orbits.

Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

Poisson point process convergence and extreme values in stochastic geometry
Let η t be a Poisson point process with intensity measure tμ , t>0 , over a Borel space X , where μ is a fixed measure. Another point process ξ t on the real line is constructed by applying a symmetric function f to every k -tuple of distinct ...

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Reconstruction of Deforming Geometry from Time-Varying Point Clouds
In this paper, we describe a system for the reconstruction of deforming geometry from a time sequence of unstructured, noisy point clouds, as produced by recent real-time range scanning devices.

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.

Wave Geometry is a mathematical framework in which geometric structures are not taken as primitive, but emerge from the relational dynamics of wave phases, transport processes, and resonance stability. Rather than assuming space, distance, or manifolds as fundamental, Wave Geometry begins with a pregeometric foundation consisting of discrete nodes ...

Autoregressive and Residual Index Convolution Model for Point Cloud Geometry Compression
This study introduces a hybrid point cloud compression method that transfers from octree-nodes to voxel occupancy estimation to find its lower-bound bitrate by using a Binary Arithmetic Range Coder.
